Re: Train noise in crossroads

We're living on the south side of Western Auto bldg #2 - train noise is quite enjoyable to us.  Fair amount of brake squealing when the trains round the curve from the east, but as they move toward Union Station, it's not that noticable.  Whistles/horns are infrequent - mostly when the local switchi...

Re: Lexington, MO Missouri River Bridge

Didn't they have some construction problem getting the new bridge to line up?

Re: Scheduled air service coming to Downtown airport

Yes, Downtown has a long enough runway for 20-30 seat regional jets - runway 1/19 is about 7,000 feet.

They couldn't do it right _now_ because of the construction work.  1/19 is being upgraded.  When it's open, Boeing 757's land here (private of course - eg, Paul Allen, Dick Cheney, etc).

Re: BMA Building To Be Converted To Condos

The ledge is about 6 feet wide - rules prohibit going out.  KCLoft is correct - no way a railing will be put up. Plus, most units will not have full size access.  Each unit can have up to 3 openable windows - but they are low to the floor and tilt - maybe 2 feet tall.  Some units (1 per floor?) have...

Re: BMA Building To Be Converted To Condos

Prices increase incrementally by floor, as well as by view.  Corner and north facing units also cost more. They are selling units in phases with prices available only on Phase 1.  I suspect this method allows them to adjust prices in subsequent phases as the market evolves. Phase 1 includes units on...

Re: Train noise in crossroads

As to frequency, KC has the second most busy railroad interchange in the country.  As I recall, there are about 240 trains thru there a day.  This seems to fit - if you sit on Lidia's patio, seems to be a train about every 10 minutes.  Altho it appears flat, there is a bit of grade for the tracks.  ...

Broadway "Gates"

The "gates" on Broadway at 5th St are finallly lit. They actually lit them last nite, but I thought it might have only been a test - however, they are on again tonight. The lights are fairly high tech with multiple patterns, colors, chasers etc. There are a similar pair of pillars/lights o...
