Re: Official Wall of Shame of Ugly Houses in KC

It could be people with really bad taste.  There was a house in the neighborhood where I used to live that was purple with orange and yellow trim and I'm not talking pastels. Wonder if we used to live in the same neighborhood....  There's a house at 61st and Holmes that fit your description.  The k...

Re: hyde park: believe the hype?

Has there ever been any serious discussion about renaming Troost?  I wonder if just having a different name would help psychologically even in the slightest. Reminds me of Chris Rock's stand-up.  From wikipedia: Streets named for Dr. King often traverse African-American communities within cities. I...

Re: We B Smokin' BBQ

I've heard about that place from an old friend that used to be a pilot.  Sounds like there are lots of airport restaurants that cater to pilots.  The guy used to take his girlfriend to random places for dinner.  Wish I could remember where they usually went - somewhere in Arkansas maybe, but I think...

Re: TSC Renovations

the Royal's haven't exactly suffered from a shortage of cheap seats (the lower tank fills up much more consistently than the upper) - so replacing some of the cheapies with higher revenue generators makes 100% sense.   I wonder if there will be a crackdown on sitting where your ticket says you shou...

Re: Kansas City Officially Has A New Mayor - Mark Funkhouser

I hope I catch Funk on 810.  Could be interesting.  I agree with many points others have made on both sides.  Funk is going about this the wrong way from a publicity standpoint, but I think Mike Sanders owns some of this as well.  I first heard about this issue from Sanders calling into 810.  I also...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

What makes Kansas Citians less capable?  Like it or not parking is a big issue in KC in the mind of the average citizen.  I'm not sure why, when or how it started, but people expect and are accustomed to "parking fields" at the front door of their store.  I’d wager that the idea of having...

Re: Indian Restaurants

Cook the curries I like at home - all the spices are available. Could you share some recipes in the recipe thread?  I'm recently tried creating my own indian dishes at home with some success.  But would to see some more recipes and information on it. I typically get my Indian food at Taj Mahal, do ...

Re: Check Please! KC - New Dining show on KCPT

Excellent news.  I've been wondering when KCPT would put together a restaurant review show.  KC certainly has a solid stock of restaurants to review.  I used to live in the Boston area and loved the Phantom Gourmet.  One of its features was a history of all the reviews in a searchable database.  It ...

Re: hyde park: believe the hype?

Several years ago I got a bullet through my rear windshield NYE.  Car was parked on the street in front of my house around 63rd and Holmes.  My wife got in the car the next morning and closed the door.  The door shutting caused the rear windshield to fall in, she hadn't noticed the damage before shu...

Re: Chiefs to rename Arrowhead Stadium

Someone (can't recall where) wrote a column where he calculated the " bribery cost " of LA not having a team.   Essentially, numerous NFL teams have extracted HUGE cash from their homes by using LA as their threat. It's actually been better for the NFL as a whole to NOT have a team there ...

Re: Chiefs

I wouldn't mind Tony being traded to a contender, especially if the Chiefs can get something for him.  I think of it like Ray Bourque.  He played 21 years for the Boston Bruins (NHL) with no Stanley Cup.  Was traded to the Colorado Avalanche in the twilight of his career and won the cup the next sea...

Do they serve beer at any of the KC metro locations?  I had my hand on the door at a 5 guys in another city when I realized they didn’t have alcohol.  My hand came off the door and we headed elsewhere.  No beer = unacceptable.

I was here Saturday night for a bit with my parents who were intown visiting for Easter.  We ate elsewhere then headed to the P+L to check things out.  My dad had been to a Howl in Orlando and immediately wanted to check ours out when he saw it because the Orlando one was a lot of fun. I emailed them requesting "Johnson County Beige" be added to the list.

Oh - and I got 29.  Should have been 30 if the aforementioned color was accepted.

Re: Kansas City Playboy Club

Just a bunch of local women in bunny costumes serving drinks in a dimly lit hotel bar. That's exactly my memory as well. I was probably about 10 at my brother's hockey tournament in Flint, MI.  There was a club in the hotel we were staying at with the team.  My brother, a couple of his friends (the...
