Funny they leaked it between the Superbowl and parade. 😂

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

I've been using the airport more and I think the criticism is mostly off base. It's a very nice airport. I traveled with my parents recently who are perfectly mobile but getting up there in age and they asked why there weren't more moving walkways. I think that's a legit critique now after spending ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

If the Royals go to EV, Is there any chance the Star Press building could become an urban indoor market subsidized by the city? Something like that could open up along side the opening of the stadium and 670 cap. There's an rfp out for the current steamboat Arabia site and that's one of the options...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

I think people underestimate how quiet kc can be. I can often walk from the crossroads to power and light without seeing anyone. River market has more activity and power and light too. KC punches above its weight in activities, but is quite poor in streat level activation. It's still dominated by po...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

Blame the casino. They didn’t at all want to support a further extension to them. Less support and more contribute to. Not much went into that where I think more people at the time were hopeful. I am not a huge supporter of gambling, but you could come up with like a casino, sports book bar, restau...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Yeah I said it's super weak standard earlier. I think there was a mo supreme court case recently on blight but I'm on vacation so not going to research 😂 It's not a super hard standard but l think a colorful case if anyone wants to argue it. And yeah as Dave alluded to earlier, only an elected offic...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

I think it's a mistake they aren't going right up to the door of the casino and adjacent hotel. There is also that small amphitheater being built there for public events. I am disappointed that Bally's didn't include a permanent theater for regular performances. That would draw more people to their...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

Yeah there was the recession and funk saying the only public money would go to lawyers to defend my wife.

A lot of stuff died in those years.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Missouri eminent domain law is weird and I don't know it well. There are lots of weird rules for electricity lines because of a project awhile back that pissed people off. 😂 You also can't condemn land for purely economic reasons. The way around this is to say it's blighted. Every property owner is ...

That's my memory as well. There was awhile there where connecting the ev though the government district was a big thing.

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

I used to know more about this. The federal reserve got fucked with post Oklahoma city rules I think.

There was also a push to relocate one from mo, I think to Colorado?

This was a very bizarre time with the recession and rules and that area going back years. I just can't coherently remember it all.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Everything is a game of telephone depending on who you talk to. I said earlier I don't know anything. I can't bitch at other people for saying what I think is wrong and come out with my own bs. I keep saying I'll leave this thread alone but it's so important I can't help myself. I'm happy we can bot...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

My understanding of cordish involvement is different, but whatever. I heard they put significant pressure on both the city and the royals saying we have an entertainment district right here, work together, you guys will end up paying less.

The rest mostly matches what I've heard.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

At our crossroads community association meeting on Thursday evening to discuss the stadium, multiple property owners on Oak confirmed they have been contacted by Polsinelli about selling. The CCA has been approached by the Royals as well, albeit with zero specifics. Tony was there doing his thing. ...

Yeah I mean the years there say a lot and then it went into land banking.

Would love a ticktock story on the east village and what happened. For awhile I remember people being super excited.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

To be clear, the team cannot condemn. That would either be the city, the county, MoDOT, PortKC, KCATA or something like that… and they need a sound justification for it to avoid legal threats. Not specifically speaking about this project, but there’s clear legal precedent on this. Sound justificati...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

So it could you be you reaching out? Cordish? My great aunt? So far every company has said they haven't heard anything other than the star owners and cordish, who are driving this. The royals are going to try to eminent domain a block from resurrection and they haven't even reached out to them? Ever...

For all of the bluster earlier about how they're reaching out to people, there seems very little evidence so far.
