Re: Your Ideal Neighborhood
the neighborhood i live in, southmoreland, isnt bad. even has a small commercial node within it (but that does not have anything i use). it would be MUCH BETTER if main street wasnt so freakin' screwed up, and had more local amenities. though, wild oats is definitely better than nothing.

i became so fed up with bad haircuts, that i now cut my own hair. i figure that if my hair is going to get screwed up, it might as well be free.

"I simply think local flair should be considered an equally necessary piece."
i agree. again , i think that Boulevard Brewing Company should be a player. seems like a no brainer. perhaps i should stop whining about it.

Re: Artists Feel The Squeeze in a Midwest Soho
all of these art loving and wealthy loft owners moving into the crossroads isnt totally a bad thing, in my opinion... it seems like there was an early wave of loft dwellers that moved to the west bottoms a little too early, and some moved out. i think that the west bottoms is looking a lot more attr...

uh
at the very least a Boulevard Tap Room serving simple americana. Â
thats my dream.
i'd rather see this than another Rock Bottom Brewery which is in (it seems) every downtown district, Denver, etc.
or maybe a 75th street brewery or free state tap room. something local.

Re: The Star rates top ten local suburban hellholes
akp, farmland fertility is decreasing, among other things such as the ogallala aquafer and other aquafers which will probably be empty sometime in this century. this means that the irrigated farmland in the west that has easily replaced that which has been lost to sprawl, will no longer be available...

i know the one you are talking about.
i hope it fails and they have to tear it down, recycle the bricks, and rebuild a worthy structure.

exurbia (or rather a return to truly walkable suburban development meant to last for a couple hundred years with plenty of accessable parks and trees and village centers with bakerys and butchers and efficient and speedy mass transit to the center city...) wouldnt be half bad if city governments and...

Re: KU Med Heart Hospital
well i think we have a semantics issue here. this happens A LOT in discussion of urban development. suburb doesnt always mean a place is unurban in nature, hence the paradox. U. City is a suburb of St. Louis, yet nobody thinks its unurban. i don't know when kck was incorporated though and what its c...

It isn't an even playing field. Seattle is different to most American cities, ditto Portland. Vancouver is a different universe! You can not use the results from these three cities alone to get a representation of the country as a whole. Vancouver, Portland, & Seattle suburbs are not poorly pla...

Re: The Star rates top ten local suburban hellholes
i don't see how this is necessarily bunk. actually, i think it is somewhat profound. i knew people would attack it! :D this study seems to suggest that on an even playing field, revived, healthy urban areas are superior in safety to mindless exurban sprawl. though i think it's a stretch to say it ...

uh, i think the dropouts are diagonal :P. yeah, i believe they are horizontal...ish. i'd love to convert the yellow one, and the frame is the most comfortable. it would be nice for a "fun time" bike. the silver one is my mainstay workhorse. the only problem is that my girlfriend occasion...
