Re: 900 Baltimore Ave.

This completely unmasks any pretense whatsoever about the owner wanting to save the building.  He wants the lot for parking and that's it.  Asshole.

Re: “The moonlit back alley” behind JP Wine Bar

Your picture kind of reminds me of the "Empire of Light" series of paintings by Rene Magritte, in that you managed to capture multiple different types and moods of lighting in a single scene.  Except of course, you managed to do it in an actual photograph.

Re: 900 Baltimore Ave.

I noticed that all of the windows have been removed from the building.  I hope this is a prelude to imminent replacement, does anyone know?  (I have this disturbing vision of the owner leaving the structure open to the elements for a few months then once again acting as if he's a passive a...

Not only that but it has changed channels many times in many areas since the white man came around (and who knows how many times before that).  Can't remember how far away it was from the current river channel but the steamboat Arabia was buried in the middle of a cornfield when it was found. ...

They have a much bigger seating area than the old location, but they still fill it out quite nicely during the lunch rush.  I'd say for a large group you probably want to show up 11:30ish or a bit before.

Re: Speeding Ticket

Here's an idea that's worked for me:  don't speed.  Speeding saves you almost no time, and increases the chances that you'll never get to your destination at all.  So you get home two minutes sooner.  You going to spend those extra two minutes doing something other than watching...

Re: Homeless living full time at Nichols fountain

Hmm... So it's the homeless person's problem that they are in that position? Hopefully none of you are saying that. They also aren't pests that we need to get rid of, as many people have pointed out, we need to provide shelters. It's just too bad the government doesn't force people to build homes f...

Re: The Official Kansas City Weather Thread

Do any of you weather buffs out there have recommendations on a decent weather radio?  I bought a Midland in May but I've come to the conlusion that the one I got is defective--it never picked up a single watch or warning, even though I had the "SAME" codes set up correctly.

- I've never heard of waferboard (plywood made with random chips instead of laminated into sheets) as having a particular problem with moisture, any more so than any other wood product.  I think you may be thinking of masonite, but I'm not sure. - The inner portion of the building envelope wher...

"Estimated Payment:

That sounds pretty steep...  :D

Closing costs alone would be more than the price of the house.
