Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
...since we could not deal with a 3-4 day layover, we got on a direct flight to St. Louis the next day, assuming we could rent a car and drive to KC. wrong - there was not a single rental car available in the STL metro area for a one-way dropoff. luckily, a family member was willing to drive from K...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
just got back from NYC where we took our oldest daughter for a little spring break getaway. great trip - also got to check out the new Terminal B at LGA - which cost $4 billion . from a design standpoint, it's pretty impressive - some nice design features, including a cool "subway tile" ar...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Below is a view of the gate area at the Tampa airport. I was surprised to learn the airport dates back to the 60s but was expanded and renovated in 2005. I appreciated the high ceilings and ample natural light. Also had a pretty solid lunch at Cigar City Brewing 25 feet from my gate. Architecturally...

I’m at the Tampa airport right now. C gates area. Pretty nice and spacious with high ceilings and huge windows. The pics of the new KCI show pretty low ceilings?

Re: Katz on Main
For the record, I think this forum's view of Home Depot/Costco has always been that, design-wise, it's an absolute travesty. An entire neighborhood was leveled which, today, would probably be thriving--and especially so once streetcar opens. Some might say the development was a significant catalyst ...

Re: Katz on Main
failing to consider the “why” behind what has been done. I understand why it would've worked in a different time period, where maybe Midtown was a shell. But I think that if we're getting to the point where young 20's like myself are confused why there's a suburban Home Depot or Costco sitting in M...

Re: OFFICIAL - Main Street Streetcar Extension
OMG extend it to Meyer, at least! I could be wrong but anecdotally it seems like there has been a lot of turnover in BKS north of 63rd (younger residents replacing older) so maybe it would be supported....not sure the tax capture would be sufficient since it's mostly single-family residences.

Re: Affordable Housing
anecdotally, things in BKS seem really crazy. we paid around $315K for our house in Jan. 2017 and i bet we could sell it, as-is, for $450K or more--and it would probably sell in 1-3 days. any decent house is getting multiple, over-ask offers. lots of people are cashing out and trying to upgrade with...

Not a huge fan of CDG but it has great connections and Paris is a major destination in itself. It would make a lot of sense for a direct continental flight.

terminal C should be preserved as a jail for anyone still saying we do not need a new airport. flew out of KCI last week and was stuck in the longest security line i've ever had there. it was 3 lines, each at least 100 deep. airport staff called out for anyone whose plane was boarding to head to th...

Re: Affordable Housing
So you are saying that you moved out, and then the neighborhood greatly increased in value. Interesting. I think we see what was holding the area back. to keep gentrifiers on their toes, i would fire several gunshots into the air around 10pm each night. sad to see no one picked up the torch when we...

And here is the zip just to the west, 64109. Goes from Gillham to Prospect. Averages went from $50k 10 years ago to a recent peak of over $300k. fascinating, and something i've noticed in our previous neighborhood, South Hyde Park. we lived there from 2008 to 2016. during that period, it was pretty...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
is there any update on whether the new KCI is expected to actually result in additional flights being added? i know things are still a little uncertain due to COVID. we need a new facility regardless, but most of all we need more flights.

Re: Need cleveland ideas
I would never in a million years live in Kansas. Missouri is bad enough. So while JoCo does feel more like "big city" suburbia, it's still Kansas[.] This is an interesting point. On a state-wide level, Kansas and Missouri are pretty bottom-barrel, so that's kind of a "shit sandwich v...
