Re: Kansas City Budget
[quote author=aknowledgeableperson ...school desegregation and school busing and the destruction of neighborhood schools became an issue with city schools. Then the riots of 1968 came about and many went to new suburban areas to leave behind the troubles of the cities. [/quote] Before that you had...

Re: GSA considers big office complex downtown
Does Allied Signal still have a presence at the Bannister Complex. I remember in high school, our govt. teacher was excited to tell us that in the event of global nuclear war, we would be one of the first targets due to Allied Signal making non-nuclear components to nuclear missiles as well as othe...

Re: Brooksider's Dress Code
I was there last saturday and saw the dress & conduct code (the posted list their is longer than the one in this thread). I've been there three times in the last 30+/- days and it's always been a mixed crowd of old geezers (me) and youngens. I guess I don't understand what it is all about.

Re: Omaha's biggest mansion for sale
THIS house originally cost $1.5 million to build in 1972. To give you some comparison. The Playboy Mansion (LA one) was sold in 1971 for $1.1m, which was at that time, a record for Los Angeles real estate. So Omaha had a mansion worth more than any house (so far) in Los Angeles in 1972. And now...

Re: 1201 Walnut to officially become Kansas City Power & Light HQs
With funkhouser at the helm??? Not with 60% occupancy and a very tight credit market. Yes, the Feds may lower the rate some more but the credit market will still be recovering for many years. I know there obstacles, just I'm just saying its what we need to do to keep the momentum going and compete...

Re: 1201 Walnut to officially become Kansas City Power & Light HQs
This is not Denver or Atlanta or Dallas or Minneapolis where developers put up risky towers and wait out the market. Places like Denver or Atlanta or Seattle or..... do go through periods of high vacancies, but they build millions of sq ft of space and lease millions of sq ft of space in the proces...

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway
Slightly off-topic, but is the Fluffy Fresh in Mission related to the Fluffy Fresh at 103rd and State Line? The fate of Western Civilization hangs on the answer... Don't know what the connection is with the name but I do know they are different owners. The one on State Line is called Charlie Pike'...
