Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

The Royals are looking good so far. How do people think that will effect the new stadium? I already see two stupid excuses. "Sherman is only fielding a competitive team this year to get his toy stadium". Never mind that this is simply the result of a multi-year rebuilding effort. It's not ...

Re: OFFICIAL: H&R Block HQ

In KC's case, anything is better than empty buildings, but I would hate to see one of KC's only modern class A office buildings turn residential. Not suggesting turning H&R Block building into residential. That’d make no sense. I’m suggesting not chasing businesses with massive incentives and i...

Re: OFFICIAL: H&R Block HQ

There are still office buildings going up in cities. They are mostly towers for single occupancy company headquarters, but they are going up.

Maybe the state of Missouri will just hand over 250 million dollars to Cedar Fair to do that like KS is doing here?

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

The Royals draw just fie when they are respectable. Not losing 90+ games. We stay on the pace we have set so far this season you will have near sellouts on the weekends by June. Biggest problem is over the last 30 years we are either in the playoffs or losing 90+ games, with a lot more of the latte...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Their home opener attendance this year was 38,775. Pretty close to sell out. I know it was a near sell out this years, but the Royals went 2-3 years prior to covid that were far from sell outs. A remarkable thing in MLB no matter how bad your team has been doing. Let alone at team that went to the ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Royals average attendance below Tampa Bay right now. Tampa Bay. The city that can't sell 20k tickets to a playoff game. Tampa is averaging almost 1000 more per game than KC through the first 7 or so games. If KC didn't sell out the opener (which has happened in recent years), they would be below Mi...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I can’t believe people are so stupid they assume the Royals are just “good to go” now. They just denied a pro-team with a lease expiring in 6 years. They think they’re safe now? People are so stupid. Sorry, I just can’t take it. Royals average attendance below Tampa Bay right now. Tampa Bay. The ci...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

In that rendering, why is that building on the right a totally different scale? Is it just an optical illusion or is this rendering just super inaccurate?

Those 18th Street improvements are pretty amazing. Really hope they can still make this location work.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Kind of makes me think Brookside might support extending the streetcar out to them after all. And Waldo. I think both would support the Streetcar extension. It would also be cheaper to build than the current line. Map of the vote. https://www.datawrapper.de/_/gnIRR/ Thanks for sharing this link. Lo...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Oh, so you must work there. Yeah, I don't know the details or what kind of parking is available on the actual block of the KC fed building. I never really noticed how many fed buildings there are right around the arena and convention center in Baltimore. It's not a great area though. Too many govern...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Just attended a concert in Baltimore. We parked in a huge garage under a major federal building. Hundreds of other cars going to the concert parked there as well. They have to be making money, I only paid $15 using parkwhiz in advance, but many were paying the $45 fee at the gate. I'm only saying th...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Why? Because it's owned by the Sherman's best friend and has essentially already been gifted to them if they want it. In fact, that site was specifically put together by Sherman's best friend because of Jackson County dicking around and giving the Sherman's a bad time. The fact that they could have...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Also could have educated voters about how MLB disadvantages smaller metro markets and how DT stadium could help team's bottom line. That's part of the process. MLB teams do not move very often, but KC is a VERY small market to have a MLB team. The only market smaller than KC is Milwaukee and they d...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Goes to show how bad the campaign was. Why not say: We expect this tax to generate 500m. We will look to the city for 350m. We will look to the state for 350m. And we, the royals will put over 500m into the project. Obviously using clay county info there but same applies to KC. Share info like the ...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Just got a survey from Jackson County on why I voted yes or no. All the questions were about the Royals. Personally thought the Chiefs proposal was just as bad for the same reasons. Ambiguity on how the tax money was specifically being spent. It frustrates me how Sherman and the Royals became the b...
