Re: 2012 Election
Democrats move Obama's speech from 74,000-seat stadium to 20,000-seat arena due to "severe weather." Chance of rain in Charlotte tonight: 0%. This is the kind of thing that Rush Limbaugh or Fox News would rip on. Lets say the rain did come and all these people stood out in the rain for it...

Re: Beer Gardens at city parks
^The one in Milwaukee doesn't even have a natural barrier but think it would be a nice feature. All MKE one has is a concession area, picnic tables and gravel. I think Roanoake would be the nicest natural setting but setting something up at Penn Valley with a view of the skyline would be awesome Her...

Re: Highway Spending Overindulgence
I'm not for huge highways but isn't this kind of planning a win/win for the politicians and the citizens and is almost like a damned if you and damned if you don't scenario. If you don't build/expand then you get scrutinized for not planning for growth, end up with congested and old highways not abl...

^There are even Conspiracy Theories out there that Paul Wellstone's (MN Senator) plane crashed because he was strongly opposed to the war. The FBI was at the crash scene before local authorities showed up. I think he even met with Dick Cheney and said things will happen to you if you don't vote for ...

^Wonder what would have happened if Gore ended up winning in 2000. I would bet we would have never went to war with Iraq and Afghanistan.

Re: OFFICIAL: The Falls (Bass Pro development)
Not to justify anything, but, we are forgetting that the Crackerneck site took well over a year of site work to level to the point that it could be developed. Very hilly. That's what most of the TIF was for. The economy is coming back. You will see these locations fill up quick. The funny thing is ...

George Washington as why he was opposed to Political Parties It serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot a...

Re: 2012 Election
^i'm confused. On the one pie chart of the overall federal budget, it says 19% is spent on defense and 18% is discrestionary. In that 18% of discrentary 58% of that is used on military which would be 10.23% of overall budget, so wouldn't the percentage be 29.3% used on defense spending.

Re: 2012 Election
Defense accounts for about 57% of the discretionary budget—that is, of spending that's not required by statute and has to be authorized by appropriations acts every year. But discretionary spending makes up only about a third of the overall federal budget. Less than 20% of the overall budget goes t...

Re: 2012 Election
Welfare requires work. Is there abuse? Sure, what human endeavor doesn't. The idea that there is some vast welfare state that is holding us back from being the great country we were meant to be is ridiculous. I think welfare only makes up like 8% of our budget while Defense is like 57%. I guarantee...

Maincor has no teeth or influence and should be ashamed what is happening across the street from their offices. What do you expect when Maincor is run by a bunch of suburbanites who don't know jack about urbanity, all they know how to do is raise money. I don't understand why this building was cove...
