Re: Oldest Building Downtown?
Fang, thanks for all the info. Fang discloses the owner further along in this thread. John is a very private guy, who does not want to sell the building. In fact he uses it, very quietly. Personal business storage with an apartment on top. He fully renovated this property several years ago, and ...

Re: Oldest Building Downtown?
I've also suspected that the brick and stone building on the NE corner of Missouri and Main (with the arched windows) is among the oldest remaining buildings downtown, but I haven't been able to determine the year it was completed. I known it existed before 1890 from a photograph I've seen. Do you...

Those are the most annoying things in the history of mankind. They have to know I live in Jackson County, please, only tell me about things in Jackson County, otherwise, I don't care, shut up.

Re: thinking of moving downtown
I am mainly comparing it to my current place, a townhome in Shawnee built 18 months ago, nice appliances, same build quality as 909 minus the hardwood and granite, and it is a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, living room, family room, garage, which totals to 1900 some square foot for $1000. The parking also c...

I was hoping that would happen with some of the places around there. Maybe dinner hours on Sunday are next. Minsky's, Winslows and Dos Hombres are about it on sunday nights.KCLofts wrote: Perhaps hoping to get some synergies with the new Bo Lings opening next door.

Re: OFFICIAL: H&R Block HQ
They really need to make some sort of official Public Parking sign with rates and hours that's prominently displayed outside every single parking lot downtown. I've gone by there millions of times and had no idea. I would never use it but it just fuels the fire of suburbanites trying to say that the...

I agree, I have been getting rid of a lot of "stuff" I have collected over the past couple years. My only difference from probably most of the people here is I have a pretty strong interest in motorcycles, on road, off road, and road racing (race tracks). I always own at least one bike ...

Hah, I made that site :) But I need to update it because the money for the underpass is in place. It's been discussed in one of the many other riverfront trail threads. Construction should start this fall and be done by spring 2008. I don't know how I missed that. How's funding for the rest of t...

I haven't seen any posts but kcrivertrails.org has renderings up for the ASB underpass and the river bluff bridge. It says they're $30,000 short of building the underpass.

Oh, I've been there! Won't ever forget it, either. I'd estimate I've been there about 5-7x. My ex was an alum and so we went out there for a long weekend once, got the whole tour of the country bars. (She was a bumpkin, herself) She did say that being a girl in Manhappenin was a great thing b/c...

Re: KSU bashing (from royals thread)
I just pointed out that Cotton Eyed Joe is a thing of legend up there. And that they line-dance to it. Since I've witnessed it on multiple occasions, I know it's true. Dear Lord. I sat here and thought and thought and I can remember hearing that song one time in my 4 years in Manhattan. I hate th...

Boo. Then they obviously haven't seen Missouri. (parts of it, maybe, are slightly taint-like. But so is a good deal of New Jersey and 3/4 of the LA Metropolitan area.) I do tire of the media perpetuating the coastal elitism. They wonder why there's such a wide red/blue divide... New York comedians ...
