KC v. Tulsa v. Fort Worth: Whose overhaul base closes??
I have no love for entitled businesses, regardless of how "dependent" we are on them. If they don't work, something else will. Let it.

That's cool. For me, thoughm there are places that I like better that are closer, and don't have eleven bachelorette parties conga-ing through each bar.

Henry George's economics are purely capitalistic, and could hardly be construed as socialist, except maybe in their outcome.

By the way, I went to this the other night, and was very disappointed to see that they weren't allowing beers outside. So, it seems to me that the only advantage of charging people a dollar to get in is that it keeps children and cars out. That's not enough reason for me to go again.

If KC adopted a Georgian economic policy throughout the entire city limits, it is staggering to think of what is possible. I honestly believe that the city's population would go from 450,000 to millions in a matter of ten years. The reason: 400 square miles(almost double that of Chicago) of sprawl t...

The only IKEA store I have seen is at the Woofield Mall, outside Chicago. Its big box look, and voluminous parking lot leads me to believe that IKEA builds stores more on the carfarm-Walmart model than an efficient urban one.
If they come to the area, my guess is that it'll be to Johnson County.

They got me going 40 in a 30, coming west on 39th, just before the street descends the hill to the light at Gillham. Watch there, if you like to speed except where you think cops are.

Price Chopper is a ways from Midtown. Midtown and downtown suffer from a dramatic lack of grocery stores, as we all know, and we have all gotten to the point that we are actually accustomed to driving ten miles to get groceries. Doesn't anyone else think that that's ridiculous?

I will concede that there is a shocking lack of bowling alleys and movie theaters in the interior of the city. I was amazed, when I first moved here, to find that the closest bowling alley in Missouri to my place(Armour & Warwick) is all the way down at 89th & State Line. But the city doesn'...

Maybe I need to be reminded of something, but I don't ever remember going to a bar district to stand around for entertainment, before I was 21. I had friends, and I went to their houses, and they came to mine. It seems to me that children hanging out in the middle of a gathering of bars and nightclu...

QueSi2Opie, yes. dangerboy, yes. I agree wholly with you two. I disagree wholly with mister Glazer's idea of adding even more parking to the already swollen ranks of Westport. If he wants KC to be a major city, and have an entertainment district that becomes a major city, then he needs to find ways ...

On the contrary, I would say that Des Moines has a shockingly urban downtown, and and largely suburban remainder of the city. I have a friend who lives downtown, and I always love going out on Court Avenue. I have gotten my Des Moines friends hooked on Boulevard Wheat...:) As for tall buildings, 801...
