Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies
Average Salary is 68k, housing development continues to be pushing up north unless most of these new employees buy a house in Briarcliff or Shoal Creek. I wonder if KC will expand it's borders even further outward. I think Missouri has a huge advantage over KS in landing new businesses from outside...

If Halls ever went under, i wonder if Nordstrom would ever look at that location. Halls is very similar to Nordstrom, both have outstanding customer service and similar merchandise.

Des Moines isn't a bad town either. It's cool to go there for the Iowa State Fair, that fair is massive, plus on the way back you can tour all the bridges of Madison County and see the John Wayne birthplace

I don't think anyone has mentioned this but a new hair salon on the south plaza recently opened called Knockouts, its very similar to Sport Clips. It's nice to see a chain like this moving into a non-suburban location.

Re: Hamburger Mary's
The reason why it's a graveyard is because there have been some many crappy restaurants to go in that location. So your saying if La Bodega moved into that spot, it would be a failure?

I'm really suprised the Plaza doesn't have a Maggiano's Italian restaurant, I actually like Maggiano's a lot.

Totally Forgot about Zona Rosa and I bet that would be the next location. I believe Elbow grew up in Liberty.

Re: New Indie Rock Themed Hotel - First Locations are NY and KC - Where would it go?
Whenever I drive down Gilham around the corner at the Costco and turn onto Armour, I look up at all the tall historic hotel apartments, i think to myself what a great, vibrant place KC must have been back in the day. It really must have been a " Paris on the Plains ". The streetcar syste...

Re: New Indie Rock Themed Hotel - First Locations are NY and KC - Where would it go?
a couple of thoughts - I read an article two weeks ago in the Sunday NYT about the Ace Hotel in Manhattan. It has obviously been a smashing success - boutique "indie" hotel complete with bar, music, hangout spaces and even a branch of the famous Stumptown Coffee out of Portland. Hipster...

Elbow Chocolates and Glace might be adding 2nd locations - Where seem logical
Last night on the Local show they were interviewing Christopher Elbow, he was hinting at possible expansion possibly to Glace Ice Cream cause it's been a huge success. What locations seem most logical? It was a great interview last night and I love how both stores are designed, they both just seem ...

Re: New Indie Rock Themed Hotel - First Locations are NY and KC - Where would it go?
This is just hotel companies recognizing younger folks gravitate toward cities and are sick of the cookie-cutter built environment their parents and grandparents created. It really has nothing to do with "indie rock" or "indie" anything. It is Portland/Brooklyn/Austin/SF culture...

New Indie Rock Themed Hotel - First Locations are NY and KC - Where would it go?
Not sure if this has been discussed before, i am new to this forum I saw this a couple weeks ago on a travel site, where would the first indie themed rock hotel go? http://travel.usatoday.com/hotels/post/2011/01/new-hotel-brand-launch-record-company/140040/1 Is this suppose to go into that location ...

Re: Vegas proposes three-stadium sports complex
They're all tiny arenas, meant for college tournaments. Mayor Oscar Goodman is determined to bring a major professional sport to Vegas. It does seem like a really odd time to do it considering the enormous number of foreclosures in the city. Nevada overall is in a massive fiscal crisis. I can't im...

Re: Ross for Downtown?
A ross downtown is actually an excellent idea. There is another Ross in Downtown Portland and I actually ended up buying something since it was right next to my hotel. A Ross in a downtown location would benefit tourists, workers and residents while ones in suburban locations mostly only cater to ...
