Re: Downtown Alley Ways

the river market this would work too, though there's not many alleys. the one between 500 blocks of Main and Walnut would be a good place for something.

it's technically 4th St, but that corridor between Delaware and the city market has four units on street level that would make perfect retail.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Yes, the city owns the lots for the convention hotel and Bartle Hall. Other than that, nothing. Not exaggerating, the city owns nothing else in the crossroads Development is going to be limited initially by how many blocks have multiple owners. The 1600 block of Walnut/Main is prime land but the blo...

for clarity, the lot is at 20th and Grand.

For me, a better Target spot is to go into Three Light. But I wouldn't complain if a department store wanted to be on Grand and a clothing store on Main. Downtown needs both.

Floor 3 concrete forms were up as of mid last week.

So two floors down, eight to go.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

One thing I would love to see with that SW lot is for it to add an Indep Ave facing use and the city adds a sidewalk along it from Delaware to Main.

And what's more amazing, is it hasn't been a notable residential district since 1951.

No other part of downtown has been residential free that long.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

the 1->3 track split at the maintenance building is going in. It's the most impressive part of the track going in.

the NB mainline has a small gap outside the 700 block Main and is just north of 8th. 4.25 blocks to go.

the crossover to NB track is laid down and ready to align.

hopefully the app is better than the streetcar one. that one was pro bono. no one would have paid for it. That explains a lot. my favorite part is a with the goal to mitigate the construction messing with access it didn't encourage using the bus by letting people check in at the major bus stops. Al...

Re: Historic Plaza Apts Being Demo'd?

This is awful. Just keep chipping away at the Plaza's charm. on the south there's mostly modern apartment highrises, a nondescript hotel and a row of historic apartments on the north is a series of modern high rises and apartment buildings on the west you have 1930s on one corner but to the north i...

Re: KC sci|tech|startups|entrepreneurial thread

I went looking, and later decided it wasn't worth it, at graduate programs in IT. KC needs a handful of great advanced IT programs. -An true IT technology program that's a step above a technology training program but isn't a full MBA course. Like get a Masters in CIS. Something that helps someone be...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

When you're in the crossroads look at the poles. The next step towards cabling is going onto them with the arms beginning to be attached. The service line track is roughly 90% complete. There's half a block of 2nd, the junctions to the maintenance barn and the connector to the main line to go. The u...

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

Westport's problem is lack of directional signage and parking signage. The business center would do well to put signs up showing how close everything is to the major parking lots and garages. It's especially needed since the roads in the area are quite complex compared to the grid 42nd becomes Worna...
