Re: Liberty plans gateway: South Liberty Parkway
I live on the KCMO side of the Liberty area and was glad to see they passed on funding the Liberty Parkway expansion over to 291. As it was you had to drive north a ways, then over, then back south, then over to get to 291. Of course looking at the map above they apparently decided they don't like s...

K-10 Crossovers
Is it just me or does it seem like K-10 has way more crossover accidents, most resulting in fatalities, than anywhere else in the KC metro area? I don't have any specific stats, but anecdotally over the years it sure seems like when I hear crossover accident, 8 times out of 10 it happened on K-10. A...

Re: Tesla Dealer in Kansas City
Wonder why they chose Manchester as their first and likely only KC location? It would seem to be a long way from both their core buyer demos and the kind of visibility they might want (JOCO?). I was about to type the same thing, seems like an odd location. A better location would have been around I...

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?
We've had the service since just before Christmas. I've been happy with it. Obviously speed tests are phenomenal. But even on wifi, many sites I pulled data down from download faster even though my wifi is capping me at around 80Mbps. I had the TWC 100Mbps plan and so download speeds should be the s...

Re: New Restaurants/Other Businesses in Northland
I would have preferred a Quiktrip. Seems around here anyone who isn't a QT turns into a dumpy c-store eventually because no one ever goes there. Also, Riverside's QT is getting a new location across the street. I believe this will be their third move at that intersection. I would say it is probably ...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
Our GF was installed the Monday right before Christmas. Guy showed up on time, install took about an hour and service has worked fine since. I get around 930Mbps up and down pretty consistently. We just use antenna for TV, so I can't comment on the TV side of the service. But so far the Internet sid...

Re: Golden Ox: Restaurants that have lasted 50+ years
KC needs to step up its game as a steak town as most places are just OK or worse. We're #1 with BBQ (that's not debatable) and a decent foodie town but local 'steakhouses' just don't stand out compared to other places I've been around country. Capital Grill and Houston's (chains) are often voted be...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
We're supposed to be early next year. I'm ready to kill Time Warner. they're so scared they came out and increased our download speed (I wanted upload speed...) and cut our bill with a new promo. too little too late Yep, same experience here, they called and offered me faster speeds for no addition...

Fox has a short piece on Antioch Center. http://fox4kc.com/2014/12/03/multi-million-dollar-project-set-to-revive-dormant-northland-mall-space/ We've eaten at the PepperJax down in south OP/Olathe. I liked it, glad to see one closer to home. I hope they re-do the exterior of Sears and Burlington, esp...

Re: New Airport (Rumor)
There has been growth on the east side of the airport and to the southeast. But yes, to the north and west it is still all farmland. As written above, I'd say infrastructure for sewer and water is probably going to prevent growth on the west side until everything builds around the airport from the e...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
My wife just texted me that the Google Fiber folks are at our house running fiber from the street to the side of our house. This is in the Northland near Liberty.

You might be right it could have been an Uno and not an Old Chicago. I know there was definitely some chain pizza place there because I ate there in the first year it opened.

Re: Cheddar's and S. Grcoery Store Shoal Creek
It is a Sprouts. They've got the signage up on the front of their portion of the building. Not sure what else will be going in on the west end of that strip building. Old Chicago is going in next to Sprouts from what I've been told. That Cheddar's parking lot seems to be full all day, every day. Am...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
Well, in part of my neighborhood (Northland near Liberty) they have install dates scheduled. Also, I noticed GF has come through and marked utilities from the inground box to the side of our homes where the rest of the utilities come in. We have those markings now at our house. One neighbor has the ...

Sounds like if we decide to join a club we'll just bite the bullet and go with Costco and the 22 minute drive to the midtown location.

Re: Another K-Mart Biting the Dust in the Northland
I don't know what KMart did so differently that kept them from competing with Walmart and Target, but what a horrible company that I wouldn't want to work for. All they do is downsize. Just imagine being the CEO. You have to know he goes into work everyday knowing they will likely never be able to ...

Costco
We have friends who tell us to join Costco, they love it. But in the Northland there aren't any. We have two Sam's Clubs, and the solid rumor is there will be a third one going up near I-29 and Barry Road. Any reason there are no Northland Costco's, when Wal-Mart seems to be making a go of it with t...
