Re: Cosentino's Grocery downtown
I can promise you that the Cosentino's are not dissapointed. The per sale transaction is below suburban stores but the total count more than makes up for it. I assure everyone that store is doing incredibly well. Now for the notsogoodnews. According to my sources, sales are way below expectation...

Re: St. Patrick's Day Parade Moving to Midtown
You may better ask why the Parade Committee leaders never approached downtown interests (including Cordish) to even ask about them supporting it or working to keep it. The "fix" was in from the beginning on moving it because of the interests on the Committee. That is fine. I seriously d...

St. Patrick's Day Parade Moving to Midtown
Westport politiking pure and simple. Throw some cash as the Parade Committee and get it moved. That is life.

Re: Cosentino's Grocery downtown
Evolution is exactly what it is. I am still going to bike to the City Market in the summer for fresh produce, Cellar Rats for the ocassional bottle or two et cetera... These places will see a hit I am sure but the good operators will adapt. Much like the P&L nightlife. It doesn't have to kil...

Here is what they are planning. Focus on great customer service and doing the job right. Continue to listen to customer feedback and, if there are enough requests add online order, delivery, curbside, new products...

Re: Cosentino's Grocery downtown
It is 33,000 sq/ft. Larger than Brookside, but smaller than suburban style grocers. They have done extremely well thus far with the traffic being very high. is the store larger or smaller than the brookside market? for some reason i was thinking it had similar square footage (making it smaller t...

Yes, it is going to be very "sweet." Full reproduction of the original sign... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/74/MainstreetTheater1920s.jpg/250px-MainstreetTheater1920s.jpg Looks like the structure that will hold the new sign, it's freaking huge. It will be sweet.

Yes. Spaces are marked. Take ticket when you enter and have it validated when you check out with your groceries. Free parking for 3-hours. Anybody have details on the parking arrangement? Yes, people have already asked me this question. I told them to just drive into that garage and I am sure t...

GNC opened at noon today. They were ahead of schedule and decided to throw the doors open on NYE. They will have regular hours starting Monday. Smoothie Bar will open later in January.

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
There is some excellent dining in the P&L (Bristol, Peachtree, Raglan, 801, Chefburger), Some above average dining (Maker's, GB, Lucky Strike) and some that needs some serious work (Bice, Vinino - though it has improved of late). I would argue that it is not bland overall, but has suffered fro...

If reasonable people prevail at City Hall, you will also see work start on a hotel at 13th and Walnut and the Midland tower conversion to apartments.

Love their work. I have picked up several posters. Highly recommend checking it out. They have a temporary store or 'gallery' in there right now. It's called the 'Hello Show'. They are selling Concert posters, Tees, plates, and other stuff by Dan Padavic and Tad Carpenter. They have a really ...

Re: Cosentino's Grocery downtown
I have a better idea. Let's padlock the parking garage entrance and close those registers thereby forcing everyone who visits the store to use the pedestrian/transit exit and see how that works. TK, I don't disagree with you in principle either, but I do not believe we are making urban design mis...

The ONLY place that has a dress code is the KC Live block when it is 21+. That is mostly in the evenings after 7pm. A dress code is never enforced on the sidewalks or streets. This is a serious question, will the dress code apply? I have never been quite sure how it works, I know it applies to t...

Regardless of the many challanges, I for one with him the best of luck and hope that a viable reuse can be had. It is too great of a link to our past to let come down.

Exactly. Smoothies at GNC are more soy protein, workout type addititives.
LenexatoKCMO wrote: In the GNC context, I suspect the toppings are more in the weight training/fitness supplement line - protein powder and whatnot. Not exactly serving the same target demo as Yummo.

I wish to lodge a complaint too. Based on the video it appears that the floors are too shiny and polished. It will hurt my eyes when the sun shines on them. Additionally, they carry Pistachio pudding. I hate Pistachio pudding. It only caters to the rich condo dwelling DB elites. &&&...
