It will be very interesting to see how these shake out. Good locations for a new use. I hope this beco...

Also, on a slightly related and unrelated note, what's up with that grass lot directly to the south of the proposed hotel site and directly east of the PAC?

Re: Minimum Wage (Split from New Convention Hotel)
As someone who spent many frustrating years I'm the food service industry I can confirm the jobs are not worth the pay. And if you think those who work in that industry shouldn't earn a living wage because the economy or because they're a lesser caste...go fuck yourself and never eat at a restauran...

Re: Minimum Wage (Split from New Convention Hotel)
I would imagine a much greater number makes between minimum and $13.00, That's where you will see the greatest increase. It is honestly very difficult to get anyone to stay at a job for more than a few months at minimum wage, no matter how much it is. As someone who spent many frustrating years I'm...

Re: Minimum Wage (Split from New Convention Hotel)
It's OK, you can program one of these guys to flip burgers. And he'll only cost you about one year's worth of minimum wages, so for years two through infinity, you've got a free burger-flipper! Plus, now we'll finally get some self-checkout lanes at grocery and drug stores. No more waiting fifteen ...

Re: Minimum Wage (Split from New Convention Hotel)
[ Exactly. KCMO gets an influx of low-skilled, low-educated workers while the suburbs get all of our businesses that move there. This city will empty out in a decade. Much like now all that will be left are Govt and teaching jobs. The only people living in KCMO will be illegals and basement-dwellin...

Re: Minimum Wage (Split from New Convention Hotel)
There's two things that make the most sense to happen short term 1. companies that have a lot of workers at the minimum wage will want to relocate to the lower wage state. Like east bottoms to Argentine kind of move. 2. employees on the lower end will want jobs in the higher wage state so they'll s...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
I'm partially speculating on future development and density. Or really where I'd like to see dense neighborhoods come into existence. Obviously there won't be an extensive streetcar system to spur that anytime soon, nor should it be pushed as such. I'm just fantasizing. I went to the Bay area over t...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Ok thanks. What about a short line to Quality Hill, was that ever looked at? yes, from Main into the bottoms. It was called 12th St West. I could now see a cross-downtown line in the 11th-13th area as a possibility to connect the KCATA transit terminals because that would serve Quality Hill and the...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Even cheaper http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=011_1405643139&comments=1 If there was a visible but "guerrilla" street rail culture in KC it would probably build more popularity for streetcars with the public and help build a unique cultural identity around KC rail transit. Obviously the...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Things have been rather quiet here this season. Afterall the Royals have the best record in the AL and second best in the MLB after the Cards (another I-70 Series in the works?). Where are the calls for Glass to fire Yost and/or Moore? Get rid of this player or that player. Trade for so-and-so. Get...
