Re: Hyperloop between KC and STL

The freight industry would probably get involved if there's any substance to this, a sign of hype if they aren't. As mentioned MO's only involvement should be acquiring the ROW and the rest of the risk put on the investors. Given MO looks to be seriously interested , they should mitigate risk by as...

Re: Hyperloop between KC and STL

outrageously annoying, i'm sick of hearing about it. just another diversion from the fact that infrastructure in this state is absolute garbage. missouri will be lucky...LUCKY to have something like illinois (low) speed rail this century. hell, ILLINOIS will be lucky to have it done.

Re: Ballpark Village v4.7 (st. louis)

i actually do wish st. louis had a dc-type height restriction, where the arch would loom over everything and the gaps would be more filled in at street level...that would have been great.

Re: Bay Area short term job/suggestions/help

so, got a dose of california reality between having two fires (and a third-degree burned homeless guy who started them) next to my jobsite (we had to actually fight one of them to prevent it from spreading onto our jobsite), traffic (mainly the horror of 3 hour commutes/car sleeping for co-workers),...

Re: Bay Area short term job/suggestions/help

Was at the Marin Headlands yesterday...if someone doesnt go there when they visit the bay area they have done blown it man. I dont think ive seen anything like it, and beats the pants off fishermans wharf or whatever other tourist thing. Its worth the extra little hike to go above the parking areas ...

Re: Ballpark Village v4.7 (st. louis)

Does anyone know when the last 10+ story, or even 5+ story built in downtown was? It seems like this is the biggest and the only development in Downtown STL that I can think of. residential or commercial? roberts tower went up in...'09? https://images1.apartments.com/i2/wn33M3igu3BCEAv3iTsudiXkhSgQ...

Re: Bay Area short term job/suggestions/help

here is my 2 cents: if you're going to be in sonoma county, i honestly would not even bother with trying to pop down to SF (or OAK) , unless it's the weekend and you have all day (and maybe could consider staying overnight in the city). there is no fast, convenient, or pleasant way to get from anyw...

Re: Bay Area short term job/suggestions/help

Of course more affordable the further north you stay in Sonoma County but could understand why you'd want to be closer towards city for a short stint. Depends on which you'd rather deal with, work commute or longer city adventures. i'll probably "move" a couple times, so i'll stay close t...

Re: Bay Area short term job/suggestions/help

We stay in Marin often as we have relatives in Mill Valley and try to use the ferries from either Sausalito or Larkspur. We did have a car last trip since the folks were with us and didn't find the drive into SF that bad at all. Of course timing is everything. san rafael seems to be a good choice i...

Bay Area short term job/suggestions/help

I may be receiving a short term stint in the bay area (three weeks), and am trying to figure out where to live, i may find out today. The job is sonoma county, so i'll probably stay in the north bay due to bridges, etc, but may move around a couple of times. As for going to SF proper, taking the 101...

how old is the renovation at this point? i mean the stadium is good for a while still, right? also, yeah taxpayers footing the bill for stadia is not exactly en vogue in missouri.

ugh, i'll take it over "tailgating" in a giant horrible parking lot. i think every time i've done it in kc it's rained and everyone is crowded into a car drunk and gross.

it's fun in college i guess. :D

Re: Rankings, lists, and such

i think KC still is, also, but a lot of people seem to be making a lot of noise about how this is not true anymore, or won't be soon. not sure if that is objectively accurate but this rampant perception of KC becoming a low-level nashville with attendant and fast-paced yuppification is not helpful-...

Re: St. Louis/CWE studio gang skyscraper proposal

slightly out of date (from late august), but it shows how it's filling in the streetwall along kingshighway, something like the midwestern central park it was meant to be. there's still a few missing teeth...hope to have another tower fill the last big gap or two soon. this guy really will have rais...
