Re: Second and Delaware
It is a great project, no doubt, but I caution all KC acolytes to look past the shiny PR elements and really think about what makes KC the place that it is, and the place that it could be. Delaware Street north of 2nd is public, currently, and is one of only four possible connections to a future riv...

Re: Second and Delaware
http://www.arnolddevelopmentgroup.com/web/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/ADG_port13.jpg It is a very attractive project. This is a great project for our city, but man, this site is so unique, and maybe deserves something more engaging and public in nature. Also, look how the rendering doesn't even show...

Re: Second and Delaware
Wouldn't vacating this significant, historic right of way put it under private control? That is ceding a part of our public place to a private entity, and it is happens all of the time around downtown, whether it is an alley behind Grinders or McGee Street through the loop. Now our grid is a patchwo...

from tomorrow's CPC agenda: Case No. 1718-V - A request to vacate Delaware Street north of the north line of Second Street and south of the Missouri River. Applicant: SK Design Group Inc., John Chamberlin I am excited about this development, yet I really dislike vacating another street. I know this...

Also, based on the address of 12 E Armour LLC, it appears this is a MAC properties development, as it is the same address as the owner of Clyde Manor, Bellerive, etc.

Re: 34th Terrace & Main
Fun fact - the grassy lot on the SE corner of 34th Terrace and Main used to contain a simple one story brick building that was demolished a few years ago - according to some sources, this was the Hostess test kitchen where the Twinkie was born. All of this property was previously controlled by Hoste...

Overall, that parcel includes the former Interstate Bakeries Building on Armour, just west of Foreign Language Academy, and there is a renovation permit attached to it. http://kivaweb.kcmo.org/kivanet/2/permit/summary/index.cfm?pid=1659746&jur=KCMO Scope of Work CONSTRUCT BUILDING RENOVATION per...

The LCRA will be seeing a plan next week to rehab this building. The plan proposes to take 10 floors and turn them into 150 market-rate apartmemts (1 & 2 bedrooms). The remaining 11 floors would remain office space. It also mentions adding "limited" street-level retail. See more of th...

Re: Why Can't the West Bottoms Be Redeveloped....?
I went to the Haunted Houses when I was in junior high in the early 90s, but I'm not sure they have been a catalyst for the development that the West Bottoms currently enjoys. I think it is more or less the nascent arts scene that grew out of some of the rave parties and artist housing that had been...

What a terrible waste, especially considering that five new versions of the 3 story colonnade apartment building are being built on the north side of 27th street, east of Tracy.

Re: We need a new airport!!!
To be fair, DFW ORIGINALLY had separate security areas at each gate, and was later renovated/remodeled to place security checkpoints at the ends of the semi-circle shaped terminals. In other words, KCI could be renovated/remodeled to operate as DFW does, with security checkpoints / baggage claim / t...

I lived on the other side, in the older building above what used to be the frame gallery.
I lived in this building, from 2006-2008.

Re: Random Shots of Kansas City
If you had posted a photo of JP Wine Bar, you would have gotten my former loft that was above it! The West Bottoms was interesting - incredibly cheap at the time, and very little going on, except for the occasional inmate walking to the gas station from the halfway house. The train noises were beaut...

http://www.kansascity.com/2014/03/19/4901981/kansas-city-has-dreams-of-transforming.html#tnt_refhome I'm not sure much needs to be done to the park, but the architect quoted in the article leaves out an interesting fact - the Washington Memorial was indeed moved here in 1926, but it was moved from ...

Re: Is Midtown Marketplace one of the city's greatest blunde
Literally the first thing I did after buying my condo downtown was to go to Home Depot in Midtown. I would guess I've probably been there (and ACE Hardware in Westport!) 100 times after while renovating parts of my condo as well. It's a big box store, but it sure beats having to drive 20 miles out ...
