Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Possible monthly bus pass holders could get scooter/ebike discounts? If you buy the Bike+Bus pass ($50/mo), you get unlimited B-cycle checkouts and unlimited local bus rides. Drop credits will eventually be part of that deal. That's the same price as a monthly bus pass. https://ridekc.org/news/bike...

When I toured on First Friday, they said 15% occupancy but a bunch of move-ins were scheduled.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Will be interesting to see if RideKC scooters are placed broader throughout the bus system or in similar areas as Bird and Spin. That is exactly why we lent them the RideKC brand... expect full integration with transit (eventually). BikeWalkKC owns the devices, so they'd only go away if the city sa...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Any chance RideKC ebikes/scooters can be combined into the RideKC bus app? Might attract more riders who already have app installed. Or maybe a button or menu item to install/launch Drop app from RideKC app. A new app will replace the existing RideKC and RideKC Freedom apps this year, and it will d...

Re: Why Can't the West Bottoms Be Redeveloped....?

Between this project and The Yards, the Bottoms is going to have a very different vibe in a year or two with full-time legal residents. It will take a lot longer before service retail will spring up in support of so few residents.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

My hunch is that the projects on the city-owned lots are caught up with financing (KC Commercial probably doesn't put their own capital into development projects). This might also affect the project on the Chinatown lot. On the other hand, the guy who was developing on Delaware is on this board and ...

The concrete has a texture that mimics that of the metal, not saying it's defensible, but when you're right there it doesn't seem that bad. Obviously transparency would be ideal.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

So does each operator still have a 500 scooter limit each? I'm seeing Bird nests deeper into neighborhoods off main drags... Columbus Park, Southmoreland, Hyde Park, etc. Ridership also seems a lot higher than last summer. Initial is 500 per -- so RideKC could have 1,000 devices (e-bikes and scoote...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

At this rate though, the property values are nowhere low enough in West Bottoms or even along Troost to match what they were when the Crossroads got going ($50K for a modest building, or perhaps even a larger one). To get that low, you'd probably have to go pretty far east along Truman or south on P...

AP Style dictates that newspapers don't have to use the Oxford comma. The history is to save space when newspapers were typeset by hand (same for adding only a single space between sentences and avoiding tabs at the start of paragraphs).

Spin saying region not active. Drop app nothing about scooter prices yet.
Spin is a new launch, so they don't have any ops here yet. It will take them time.

So in 2031 all of the artists will be priced out of the Crossroads once the abatement expires...or it will need to be extended.
I have serious doubts that Crossroads will still be the Art district in 2031.
Probably true.

Did anyone catch Jolies horrible idea regarding a city department of transportation? Instead of putting money towards the capital necessary to fix the issues, given the various departments and crews we already have, we should totally just put more money into staffing another person inside City Hall...

I mean the real alternative here is to start taxing greenland and parking lots more aggressively. I'm not sure anyone thinks we're there yet? I just wish the tif wasn't so damn long. Can't they make payments in lieu of taxes and make everyone happy here? No, in this instance you'd have to change st...

The RideKC scooters (and e-bikes) are powered by Drop Mobility. Download the app here: http://ridekcbike.com/

Spin is now owned by Ford. Excited to see how they launch here. Lots of choices.

Also, are they completely identical to our current ones?
I'll find out.

Yes, identical to current ones, except maybe the tiny operable windows -- which we never open -- were deleted.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I thought buildings with arts uses had tax abatements. Is that still a thing? If rents are soaring in a building with a performance space, I'm going to guess the owner is looking to redevelop it into something else. Yes, the Arts District PIEA is very much still a thing. It was extended in 2016 and...
