Re: OFFICIAL - City Club Apartments (former Midwest Hotel)

I was looking at some older renderings of this project and was a bit confused by the scope. So it will encompass the Midwest Hotel Building, the now vacant lot to the north (new construction), a one story restaurant on the lot to the south, and from the renderings, it appears the entire lot behind ...

The ribbon was cut on Friday. Also, Jim Leedy art now hangs inside the restaurant that bears his name:

If this keeps up, expect the state to pass a pre-emptive ban on local dockless regulations.

Seems to be open for business? We have reservations next week, hoping the bars and restaurants are up and running.
Bar and bar food (pizzas, etc) are available. Lots of work still going on. Ask for a tour of the rooms. Art should be going in soon. Stunning space.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

The Star article about the collapse indicated that space was being renovated for a restaurant, which was news to me (the restaurant bit, not the renovation). It had been purchased by Matt Abbott about a year ago.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Has the City ever taken any steps to implement Better Block proposals on a permanent basis? Or is the whole purpose to "get people talking" about how road diets wouldn't completely collapse Kansas City's drive-scape? They have not. One year they didn't even show up to the event they permitted. *sig...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I'm in San Antonio today, where Bird and Lime have been for about six months. Anecdotally, locals say usage has dropped off but there are a LOT of them downtown. Lots of sidewalk riding -- way more than KC -- which I attribute to lots of one-way streets and most of them are pavers that make for a ve...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

There was a group at Union Station today with what looked like schematic type drawings of a jackson county rail system. They said something about having a campaign office open up soon, going on city visits, and some other things. Talked a bit about the Rock Island Corridor, etx They were pretty obvi...

Re: 1800 Walnut

That alley was vacated, so they do not own the entire thing. A vacation splits the public property between the adjacent owners.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I have warned everyone that overnight scooters are a very real possibility. Between larger batteries and batteries that can be swapped in the field, it's a no-brainer. Companies need to also respond with devices that have better lighting and turn signals. This new model all of the above: https://ele...
