Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

First Friday was the perfect use case for scooters/bikes over cars tonight. Dockless cars blocking the box at every intersection, stacked a dozen deep on Grand, Main, 19th, and 20th. Feels really good to zip past a line of cars in the bike lanes...

Re: Westport Terrace at Manor Square

There's a historic theater (Boone?) at 18th & Vine that needs a tenant after the city stabilizes the building.

Re: Westport Terrace at Manor Square

Owner reportedly raising the rents a lot, leading to the immediate departure of Gould Evans and eventual departure of Tivoli when their lease is up.

The old KC Star lot (used mostly for newspaper truck parking) on the 1700 block of Locust is being prepped for redevelopment. No sale or permits yet.

Welp, it's being paved so it'll be a surface lot for awhile... presumably for Parlor.

The food is great, but the vibe is very Johnson County and good luck getting there via anything other than a car.

I don't think Peggy's retaining her lease.
I watched her scrape her signage off the windows over the weekend. Safe to say she's relocating. Not safe to assume it's because of the rent.

Curious what will happen on First Friday this week. They better launch some more scooters or they will be all gone by 4 o’clock. Would be a good day for Lime to launch.
Lime and KCMO are at loggerheads over the high fees (which, ironically, were suggested by Bird).

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Caps are dumb and we don't apply that policy to anything else except traditional taxi cabs (whose price is also regulated by KCMO, but no others in the region) or liquor licenses (the "density" requirement -- aka a localized cap). It started because of botched roll-outs in some of the early dockless...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

^Agree. BTW, have installed the Lime app and when zoomed out it shows KC as a Lime city on map but nothing deployed yet. Will be interesting to see if bikes and scooters or scooters only. They look to be scooter only in Austin (they have Bcycle) while STL now has both. Lime has told me they're laun...

DaveKCMO-- is there any hope for revisiting w/ the 1 KC Place property owner to get a shelter installed at SB Metro Center?
Probably not until the ownership changes.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Is Abbott Properties offices moving to another location? I remember at one point there was talk of a five-story office at 1616 Grand (and two parcels north of it) but that seems to be off the table since the three-story historic brick structure is actually being renovated (for an event-space I thin...

New welcome arch sign going up on Armour tomorrow. This explains the odd curb bumpouts they installed last month at Armour & Buchanan that didn't seem serve any useful purpose. https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/north-kansas-city-gateway-to-be-installed-saturday https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DjNeWe...
