Re: Clayton, MO CBD Boom (Centene, etc)

i can kind of understand the annoyance with the amount of rush hour traffic (which isn't really terrible unless you are on hanley southbound to I-64). it's a strange situation...there's a desire for higher density office environments in st. louis, but the demand is in every central corridor node exc...

Re: Wow...National Love for Both the Lou and KC

the riverside neighborhoods have a lot of heavy industry, so did large areas of the northside of chicago, which proved that its something that can be remedied. in any case *massive* swaths of the city are mostly removed from heavy industry like southwest city, maplewood, richmond heights, u-city, et...

Re: Nashville?

nashville is sort of next door to us, even though until recently there wasn't much interaction. it's trendy now for successful st. louis restaurants/brewers/etc to set up a nashville location, and i'm seeing a lot of creative flow from chicago to nashville. nashville is definitely on fire right now,...

Re: St. Louis/CWE studio gang skyscraper proposal

here is sort of an aerial view: https://nextstl.com/wp-content/uploads/One-Hundred_three-1024x622.jpg nextstl.com this is a good block to build on...it sort of is the surface lot problem child of the central west end. there has also been speculation that there will be a highrise proposal for the adj...

Re: Clayton, MO CBD Boom (Centene, etc)

the centene proposal has recently been "cleaned up" with more street level uses/retail and additional residential. some open space/plaza-crap has been eliminated and buildings "tightened up." https://nextstl.com/wp-content/uploads/Centene_12-16_14-1024x598.png nextstl.com https:/...

Re: St. Louis/CWE studio gang skyscraper proposal

About the only thing I don't like is a lack of attempt to fit into a neighborhood. The best new buildings take cues from what's around. This one doesn't really fit into the surroundings. i watched a snippet of the local news where one of the architects was specifically addressing this. they sort of...

St. Louis/CWE studio gang skyscraper proposal

Re: Cordish projects in other cities

just to clarify, the office space in ballpark village phase two is a seperate project from this cupples area office bldg proposal which is also claiming to potentially be the first new office bldg since 1989. it's not cordish: https://nextstl.com/wp-content/uploads/Cupples-X_Koman-Group.jpg nextstl....

Re: Missouri Amtrak Service

i used to take the train from time to time when i went to university of central mo back to the st. louis area (and kansas city) but the number of other students on there seemed like a trickle, nothing like the illinois service. I-70 is a terrible terrible drive, however, i'm surprised more don't use...

Re: Missouri Amtrak Service

It would seem to me that a spur to Columbia would provide more ridership both ways than any station in Jeff City. mos def. especially considering that amtrak has stops in suburban kc and st. louis on the missouri sides. if you have ever taken amtrak out of chicago to st. louis, you will notice how ...

Re: New Town at Harmony (Independence)

Its not a bad idea but don't think Eastern Jax is the first place i'd do this. I think West JoCo would be better suited for this. but isnt joco more rigid/entrenched to the dallas-esque square mile grid, interior cul-de-sac pattern than the missouri side? the missouri side is all over the place, is...
