Re: favorite under-the-radar mexican places in the kansas city area?

Hey Mean - have you been to any of the taco places on St. John Ave? I've been to Guerro, but still need to try Los Altos de Jalisco. I think they're open for lunch and then close again and reopen sometimes for dinner/late night. I remember trying and failing once and I haven't been back.

Re: NFL Draft

I agree with you on the importance and entertainment value of this (virtually none), but the Tennessee/Nashville fanbase is pretty solid and it's a good football town. I have some friends that have gone and the downtown vibe and walk across the bridges is a pretty cool gameday experience. I think th...

Why is Nashville not an NFL city? Is this one of those sarcasm posts I don't get?

Re: Electric Park Neighborhood (East Bottoms)

I can't read the article you posted, but there is a little butcher on the west side of the market (the name escapes me) - down towards the south end. But, the selection isn't great and it just smells weird. I like some of the eggs they have there, but I haven't had a ton of luck with their meat. Bro...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

I feel people are confusing different things here. As far as I can tell, the terminal name has very little to do with the airport name. I haven't seen anyone confirm they are removing Kansas City International Airport - only adding a name to the terminal. Sky Harbor in Phoenix is going to have a McC...

too bad. I really liked their old fashioned donuts. Better than most I’ve had. Didn’t love their cake donuts, but still thought they were good. It was overpriced IMO, but not terrible.

Re: favorite under-the-radar mexican places in the kansas city area?

Has anyone tried the Honduran restaurants in KCK? A couple have popped up. Tends to involve plantains and Baleadas (tortilla, refried beans in coconut oil). I think the Honduran spot at 13th and Central either used to or still does have a location on Independence Ave. I really like that spot. Sabor...

I think El Camino Real does that. Bichelmeyers too.

FWIW, I think most places probably do it that way - it's just a matter of what they're showing you.

I think Rico's has the best street tacos downtown. And $2 burritos on Thursday are the best/cheapest lunch deal around, IMO. I think they're only $3 normally.

I think they're underrated as well. It's good pizza. Decent lunch special as well.

Westport location is solid too - and I think they opened up in the old Snow & Co. in the xroads.

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

Maybe we should just stop perpetuating this social racial divide? Maybe? Unless of course MLK Jr. fought for self-segregation. Then, by all means.. I'm sorry guys. You are right. The racial healing begins by telling the black community that a combination of community organization and due process ar...

..incredibly insulting to the black community. The Paseo is a boulevard in the heart of the KC black community. Maybe we should just stop perpetuating this social racial divide? Maybe? Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

I am against renaming The Paseo, it's a historic name. Why can't they just rename a number street or I-70? There are already 900 MLK streets/ bridges in the US anyways, everyone already knows who he is, why not rename a street for a local civil rights activist or someone like Medgar Evers who was a...

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

Not to be cold on the subject, but did MLK ever visit KC? He is a huge and important historic figure, but can't we promote the name of local civil rights figures that were important to our local history? I feel like we are playing copy-cat to every other metro in the U.S....and way late, I might ad...
