there's zero funding. roughly the loop to 435 is next in line.

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

another question is are they going to wait for the first build out to be finished before they bring in new areas or will they bring in more people?

Re: Road Repairs from sales tax

I seem to remember I saw somewhere that the cost to do a road right is $1 million per 10 miles. So with $3 million they could do 30 miles. Some of those segments aren't very wrong. Seems realistic to do more than just an overlay where required. Remember, a repave in some areas could just be taking o...

Re: Does this apply to Kansas City? Any examples

I've been in every county in the state of Missouri, all throughout the biggest 25 cities in MO, all across the Kansas City area, every neighborhood in St. Louis. Yet I don't recall ever going to Olathe. Oh, and the scariest place in MO was this tiny town in the bootheel named Wilson City. People sta...

Re: Make Grand Grand

that Arvest bank mockup is 100x better than the ugly parking garage they have now.

one thing I liked about Chicago is so many parking garages started above the first level so the only sign of them was finding the entrance.

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

Is interesting what this Google experiment has exposed about KC... http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/10/us/in-one-city-signing-up-for-internet-becomes-a-civic-cause.html?pagewanted=all Every city has its low income areas but many articles about this seem to imply KC as a whole is a low income, raciall...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

I've been dealing with TWC and dish network moron independent contractor installers for several years. Most of these guys were complete idiots and couldn't care less about what they did, as long as the thing got connected and they were able to sneak away without anyone noticing they had left. In th...

Re: Amenities missing from downtown

And while restored wetlands along a stretch of the Missouri may not be a complete draw for people, besides fishermen, bird watchers, and duck hunters, the sheer benefit they bring in general is very obvious. how do you do this without encroaching on farmland? the farm lobby will kill this plan in t...

So what are the expectations for how long the buildout will take? If I live in KCK can I really expect to have this service hooked up within the next year? It would be cool if they just announced "Suprise" we had the whole city wired before we started this marketing initiative. Installation and ser...

Re: Amenities missing from downtown

Well the idea is not to have naturally-formed braided streams but man-made canals (which, of course, would not shift in the same manner as in a natural alluvial plain) that would have the same result of a braided stream: flow redistribution and decreased flow overall. And while restored wetlands al...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

Weather is going to drive how quickly things move along at this point.

There's three months of fall installation ahead if they get going ASAP. If they can do more this winter with nice weather that really will speed up the areas behind it.
