Re: City Center Square for sale

the best spot is where they are ??? Have you ever been inside this building? And who are "they?" yes. by they I mean the food court AND anyone in a space you'd move the restaurants to. it's a major renovation involved. for this plan to work it would be hugely disruptive to a number of businesses. t...

Re: 900 Baltimore Ave.

That's a shame... could have been a great parking lot. ironically to be able to support those people in the garage mentioned it's going to need expanding/fixing the garage is effectively maxed out already. it's leased to residents in one buildings, businesses in two buildings and the kansas city cl...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

It is, however, ridiculous that more than half of that route's length was to run north of the river through very sparsely populated areas. this. look at the bus lines for the best rail transit lines right now they mostly intersect at the former Antioch mall and metro north mall. Both have a park an...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

^I think Chastain's route is mostly brilliant, except it should have gone straight down Main St in the RCP corridor. Do you realize that the Waukomis section followed the old interurban route? I think the idea there was the open land for development, which a lightrail line would have definitely bro...

North Oak land for sale

the lot the city used for staging when redoing North Oak is up for sale. it's right next to another property for sale as well. this is just north of Cerner Oaks. This would be a really good spot for an apartment complex. the additional auto traffic would help slow down N. Oak speeds, that hill invit...

Re: City Center Square for sale

I think those are the north and south sides you're describing. yes, you're right. I got turned around. but it proves that two sides are horrible choices for street facing regardless. that means one can't turn the current food court around on their current spots. the east and west aren't much better...

Re: Major road improvements on I-35/291 corridor

After decades of doing the bare minimum with its northland, KCMO is developing a very comprehensive arterial roadway system north of 152 and that area will become developed out. In 20 years, Liberty will probably be just a little bigger than it is today and that’s probably just fine with them. Libe...

Re: City Center Square for sale

Whatever happens, both the East and West sides of the building can have multiple street-facing retail/restaurant spaces. your idea is physically impossible except for two exceptions. bring up google street view so you can see why I say this the east side is Jason's Deli side window, then parking ga...

Re: Convention hotel proposal for P&L building (and surround

KC's status in a state that might still be considered a swing-state should help it. it's not considered a swing state. Actually I think KCMAX was referring to the fact that Missouri is lite red/leaning republican and may be a state democrats would like to consider converting. to reiterate why we do...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

for easy reference, here's the Chastain plan that passed http://www.lightrailnow.org/images02/kc-lrt-lightrailmap_KCATA.jpg it went right by Bartle Hall, Plaza, Westport, the Zoo and then to the airport. you can tell it was for tourists and not locals. it's northern end actually avoids the bulk of t...

Chastain proposal that was approved over the objections of the establishment (city, business and media). So the one that did fail was designed to fail. That was the whole point of putting it on the ballot -- to kill the initiative that did pass while giving plausible deniability to the establishmen...

at only 49% occupancy and "not enough parking", it seems like the obvious choice. of course, who would want to live above that food court? would need to transition to higher end retail. Be a perfect gym. That food court is depressing. It would make a great gym. They should move the dinky gym on the...

Re: KC Star paywall goes into effect in December

As someone that lives out of town, I am in a quandary as to whether to pay for the Star or not. Outside of this forum, it's one of my better sources for local news. The online paper is so littered with obnoxious pop up adds that you'd think they'd be doing OK without needing paid subscriptions. The...

sounds like tenant leasing to me.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

of note: the commercial assessment for streetcar is LOWER than the assessment for the CID. of course, it's a brand new assessment that they didn't get to vote on. also, the public/private partnership (streetcar authority) is heavily weighted to the private sector. this has improved communication an...

Back on topic: The more I walk through downtown and think about this project, the more excited about it's prospects I am. Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Wow...talk apples versus oranges. Let's just say if there are 25,000 commuters from LS to downtown, Plaza, SKC, and JOCO and 15,000 go to the last two places and 10,000 go to the first two places why would the 15,000 support a light rail plan that doesn't benefit them? you forget voters don't run t...

And why is seven hills road as long as it is without connecting? Seven Hills Road is now just a few hundred yards long. Google shows it going almost to Birmingham Rd, but it stops at the first (and only) house on the road. I've been pondering the semantic value of the "Road Closed Temporary" sign a...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

The suburbs will only vote for a light rail plan when they feel they are being left behind and the urban core is taking over as the place to live, work and entertain in the city. Right now, a citywide/countywide vote, in the eyes of most people, looks like the city begging for funds to build a pipe...
