Re: We need a new airport!!!

Federal projects are required to have much larger contingency padding in terms of numbers this year. The streetcar cost already went up to account for this. Tarriffs are creating a lot of uncertainty, so every supplier is probably raising costs. Remember, it's not just steel and wood. It's toilets, ...

Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread

DIfferent ideas for free rides: A rider who takes 47 to Troost MAX to 12 to go downtown, they get the first and last leg free for using a high frequency, high speed route. So 21 wouldn't get this treatment but Main, Troost and Prospect would. If you stay within a route zone your ride is free. If KCM...

Re: Light Rail Systems And Routes In Other Cities

There’s a quote in this article that only works in context, so go read it. They built the loop trolley without knowing how big the trains would be. So there’s parking that may be too skinny to fit. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.riverfronttimes.com/newsblog/2018/10/24/loops-trolley-isnt-even-open-...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Commuter rail by itself looks unreasonable But if a line was run to downtown lees summit it’s about being easier than driving to JoCo. In the short term, maybe not, but it’s another piece of the puzzle of rebuilding downtown. It’s what the streetcar to UMKC is about. It’s not better necessarily than...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

On this post, the 4th photo down you can see to the 7th floor. The metal structure is the floor of 8. http://www.kcrag.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=18949&start=2480#p584439 Where the 4th floor bumps in (4-5 being the double floor) is restrooms and storage. The top level of the garage is the metal struct...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

Ah, looks like it will have huge ceilings based on what the webcam shows. 4 to 5 is a double floor. the only 5th floor specific space is mechanicals below the south end of the room tower and the sky bridge connection 6th floor is taller than levels above and convention space replaces the south leg ...

Watch how downtown OP develops denser and if this model expands to the south. If it can restart the old model that had denser developments along transit corridors with single family behind the money will start to appear. The city may never get back to the train everywhere model, but Troost, Prospect...

2024 will be after the census and redistricting. Texas is on path for Hispanics to be the largest demographic of Texas within about 5 years. Re: Rankings, lists, and such

Per previous post, is inline with KC growing with millennials (well 30+) and perhaps KC conservatives/GOP are leaving or dying off. We've seen this in other statistics, each generation is down a little more in Republican identity. So far the idea that people grow more conservative in age isn't hold...
