Re: Uptown Shoppes

^Many cities are expanding their urbanity more than KC tries, Midtown isn't as much due to car mentality. If Midtown treats cars as a priority, suburban leaving developments like strip malls will continue and surface lots will continue along pedestrian stretches. Sad. But back to this project. A sim...

Re: Uptown Shoppes

Midtown main drags used to be very pedestrian friendly (even though single family homes) and can somewhat easily be restored if the attitude and direction is established with developers. Yes, cars should be 3rd class citizens. I'm not talking about no parking in this spot. I'm talking about the surf...

Re: Uptown Shoppes

^That's fine if you 'dont care' but it isn't ideal urban friendly pedestrian scale development for Broadway, which is what I'm pointing out. Surface lots along pedestrian active streets are a big no-no in urban design and that stretch of Broadway has an opportunity to tie Armour into Uptown Theatre ...

Re: Uptown Shoppes

Pedestrian friendly streets, specifically making Broadway as contiguously connected at a pedestrian scale from block to block, which means no surface lots along Broadway sidewalk. There's an opportunity to do this with this site. Understandable that you live in the suburbs and wouldn't prioritize th...

Re: Uptown Shoppes

^There isn't a difference for this location if an L shaped building at the corner the stretches along Broadway. See the draft layout in link above. Allowing a surface lot facing Broadway is just poor urban pedestrian friendly design, relatively better if it faces Valentine.

Re: Uptown Shoppes

The hotel needs to be L shaped, stretched along Broadway. An urban designer would not have a surface lot facing Broadway.

Re: Three Light

Would be more ideal if nothing like 2 Light but this is a relatively decent way to give it some changeup and far better than the original monotony. The skywalk makes sense in order to share amenities w/out having to walk outside and pass security. Hope they keep the slanted top. When 4 Light plannin...

Re: Westport

You'd think with more upgraded market rate apts opening up around Midtown and closer into Westport more neighborhood oriented places will go in but Westport goes into 10 year cycles and might head back into direction of obnoxious party bars. Hope I'm wrong.

Re: OFFICIAL - Corrigan Building

Hopefully this will encourage other James Beard caliber chefs in town to experiment with fresh sidewalk counter eats, maybe something a little more adventurous than burgers but still approachable. Could see Affäre with a high end brat counter, Michael Smith with a panini/fresh thai wraps counter, th...

Re: Sprint sale rumors again

Sound like Amazon is interested in buying Boost division of Sprint if merger approved, which under covers would be Sprint/TMO network. Seems more likely the Feds will approve merger if Amazon is in the mix even though not really a 4th competitor as number of physical network operators would reduce f...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I see that the Drop app has been updated to handle scooters. Shows same designated locations as ebikes, currently showing 0 scooters everywhere. Can scooters be locked in more locations than ebikes or same designations? I'm now seeing the benefit. So even if not as convenient as other scooter servic...

Hmm, having to lock to something could be confusing to overall scooter experience as a whole.

Southmoreland

Maybe time for Southmoreland to have its own thread, which includes Nelson Museum and KC Art Institute. Ragazza moved to 43rd/Main and has become a hotspot centerpiece of neighborhood. The upper floor of building is being converted to apts. Tree Haus Cafe (THC) is opening this summer a couple doors ...

Re: NFL Draft

Unlikely streetcar operating by then. But it could be under construction by then, which could create a traffic nightmare in Midtown for large events like this. Free shuttle runs down Broadway to Westport/Plaza might be needed.

Re: NFL Draft

The decision seems to be based on space and the large lawn between US/Memorial provides that, which worked out find for Royals World Series party. The free streetcar ties everything together anyway so it will be one contiguous street party (or large pockets anyway) from US to RM. Direct the 'tourist...
