Apparently for lower than what we've heard. So don't expect any improvements to the design.
Who makes up the difference from the $1.5B approved by the airlines and the $1.64B estimate?
Guessing they just cut more amenities...we don't need a damn roof!
Community development monies?

I like this building more than I did when the plan came out. The stone in the front looks nice and it doesn’t look as cheap as I imagined a Hampton Inn would.

I just assumed both. Middle of the street and all.
That would be a good solution. I guess I just assumed it was one direction the same as the one being replaced which is also middle of the street.

Why wouldn't you be able to board southbound at the new Grand stop after a car had made it's journey to and back from Berkley Park?
wouldn’t that be a northbound stop only or both?

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

All stops will indicate the terminus/direction of travel. It will no longer be a proper “loop” when the Riverfront opens because it will be a tail track (the vehicle will change directions — like at Union station — before it departs rather than continuing forward as it does in the River Market toda...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

The current plan is for every streetcar to make the full trip from Riverfront to Plaza, River Market to Plaza, or Riverfront to Union Station, depending on the timeline for opening each extension. They are funded separately locally and federally, but it’s most likely that Riverfront will open befor...

Re: Liberty Memorial Musuem and Penn Valley Park

Why not just have an entry directly into the museum from the north at a lower grade? Expand the museum to the area directly to the north of the memorial.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

Who’s to say we don’t have a retractable roof stadium that could be used for other purposes out of season? There are other large stadiums that have gotten Final Four or large concerts. We haven’t seen a baseball/ MLS combined stadium yet. I know those were terrible for MLB/NFL, but the seating numbe...

Right. It's not even the nicest church on that part of 47th (Unity is).
And the building replacing it is anything special? An ugly box.

Did it go up to the huge window space that the North tower does? Interesting. Thanks for the info. No, it was only one level that I remember but did have a door in the ceiling that we didn’t access. The north tower was open to three levels with a ladder to the top. Thefull unit the floor below the ...

Re: OFFICIAL - 909 Walnut

South tower isn't anything but mechanical I believe. Looked at the penthouse several years ago before someone else bought it. Was a cold shell (no heat, utilities, etc) but the south tower was space that was included. The realtor suggested it as another bedroom or office. Had full windows but would...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I have become more worried about the restaurant the longer it’s tajen then to build out. It gives me the, perhaps false, impression that they don’t have it together and that that might reflect on their food, service and decor. Of course, I felt the same with The Russell and was totally wrong. Will d...

^ If the building is fully paid for years ago and they can’t even cover basic maintenance, they’re not a viable church. Selling to a developer to tear down the building is like selling your moms wedding ring when she dies, the one she got from her grandmother.

Re: Fixing KC's lack of downtown parking?

Downtown was dead for so long, I think most of the complaints about parking is that people don’t know where it is. Someone from Lee’s Summit comes down to The Plaza every year and they know they always park in the same spot. That person might never have gone to the Sprint Center before or a First fr...
