Re: Five Light

No. There are myriads of buildings where multiples of floors are grouped into larger "frames."

Re: Muehlebach Hotel / KC Club Project

The office building on Wyandotte will look even better with a few floors added. Closer in height to the adjacent Aladin Holiday Inn. For the first time since it was created over 60 years ago Barney Allis Plaza will have a contiguous building wall on all four sides.

Re: Five Light

Thank you Chris Stritzel and Last Gentleman. Its odd that all the mid rise towers built in the south loop this century are in the same height range. The foothills of DT. Glad Copaken did not put this at 12th and Grand, still hoping for a real skyscraper there someday.

Re: Five Light

Ideal height for the site. Will add density to skyline but not block the deco setbacks on the upper KC Place.

Re: Five Light

Hope the 25 stories does not include the parking structure. A big win for DT and for the streetcar reducing parking needs.

Too bad that most prominent thing on the airport has to be the monolithic parking garage.

I'd rather this was high end residential. The Walnuts and Alameda Tower equivalents for DT.

Re: Proposed tower on Plaza

If the church is not a good candidate for adaptive reuse than nothing is. If the garden space cannot be used as courtyard dining/entertainment then the footprint of the building could be extended to the sidewalk on 47th. I would like to see this project more across the street from Winstead's.

Re: New Broadway Bridge

At least there will be some nice new unobstructed driving views from it. The south end will still have to be very elevated like the current bridge and then the new ramps connecting to the freeway on the bluffs. I imagine there will be not pedestrian considerations?

Re: Are downtown apartment occupancy rapidly trending down?

Union Hill founders was established and filled for years and now is well below 75% occupancy. Rents here are substantially lower than new units coming on line in the DT loop and Crossroads. The 2 bed 2 bath above and below me have been vacant for over 8 months now. My electric bill/heating is going ...

My notable KCTV tower memory is from 1976 when a woman climbed 1/3 way up and unfurled a banner painted with "Mary Hartman,Mary Hartman was right." Mary Hartman was some Norman Lear comedy/soap.

Re: Postcards From the Edge of Time

I have that first b&w photo in a postcard used for retail promotion. In the upper left it says "Kansas City--HARZFELD'S-- Petticoat Lane." In the lower right it says copyright '45 Millard-Hahn.
