Re: Open Spaces - Kansas City Arts Experience

Checked out Hye Dyve on Saturday after all of the glowing reviews on here. What a unique, trippy experience. A perfect cocktail of art and architecture. It's a shame to think this beautiful building and work will just go back to being an unused/empty church post Open Spaces - would be awesome if th...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

That would be disappointing. They have great food. Perhaps they'd just like to be in a less funky space? The HVAC in there seems to be all over the place. I love the food too, but the service has been equal to the heating and cooling in dependability. They have never seemed to figure out a system a...

To disguise that this is a suburban shopping mall? If the road was a straight shot you'd see only parking lots because there's no way we're putting them behind the building. But hey, cycle track.

fire (alarm) today? ton of sirens appeared headed this way around 4pm Word is someone left a package on their stove and then turned it on. This seems to be something of a pattern among downtowners. It happened the first week One Light was open a couple of years ago. Stop putting boxes on your stove...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Has the City ever taken any steps to implement Better Block proposals on a permanent basis? Or is the whole purpose to "get people talking" about how road diets wouldn't completely collapse Kansas City's drive-scape? IMHO it's tough to implement on a permanent basis when you have a public works dep...

It's good to see someone doing infill development without tearing down existing buildings. That's always a good starting point. I heard the shed was going. Also let's not forget the pool that was removed! NEVER FORGET THE POOL. The pool can be replaced! I picture a rooftop pool that spans all three...

At least one of them is a lurker and occasional participant here. Going to be a very nice project restoring some of the historic density of Columbus Park. It was very nice of KCMO planning to help this entrepreneurial couple proceed in a time and cost efficient manner. /s

I love this development as well - a quiet win for downtown. Attractive building with popular, small apartments, local coffee/bar tenant with a nice patio on once-quiet sidewalk, and wider than expected variety of local goods. Wedged between two hip hotels in the middle of the CBD. Went yesterday fo...

Re: Should Jackson Co. relocate the Correctional Facility?

It seems somewhat ridiculous to me to move the jail to a less transit-accessible area. Much like the DMV move out of the State Office Building and onto Cleaver, it would seem to put additional burden on those least equipped to bear it.
