Re: Hotel Bravo- 17th and Wyandotte

Everybody keeps saying "no parking" this hotel is being built next to an underutilized garage. I'm sure it will use/share that garage. Valet could even use the PAC garage. If that garage was not there, this hotel would likely have it's own parking structure which would probably make the project fin...

Re: Fixing the KC Zoo (ongoing)

McManus announced they scrapped The GO Bond as a proposed funding source for the aquarium.

Apparently, they will continue look for some other way the city can support the effort.

This image gives a better look at how little active use there is on the ground floor.

2 light has active frontage the entire length of Truman and portions of both Grand and Walnut. This proposal has a portion of 18th street with a use and a tiny, tiny section of Walnut.

While this building is awesome- I just don't get the ground level. So much whiff here. Can you really even call this mixed use?

Re: Fixing the KC Zoo (ongoing)

The city has several hundred million dollars in deferred maintenance for buildings it currently owns. My understanding is this portion of the GO Bond money was approved to help fix ADA problems and address deferred maintenance. How about we use it for that before we build more stuff?

Re: We need a new airport!!!

The faa predictably bounced some of the community funding. Council still wants their slush fund paid. Expect even more to come out of the design. Why? The (predictable) fact that airport revenues can't be used for non-airport related construction activity actually means more of the money WILL go to...

Re: People Watching in KC

You can sit in Kaldis and catch pretty good traffic at 12th and Main. Or sit in Cosentinos by the windows along 13th. Or if its nice out, sit in the tables tucked back along 13th street by HR Block

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Have they admitted that their design wasn't practical though, or are they still claiming they're going to relocate the fountain and roof to a field? This just seems to be an airport that's basic as fuck with no pushback from anyone involved. The sprint center was paid for with use fees, and the ren...

Re: Porchfest

The PorchFest organizer is not going to put the event on this year. Doesn't want to put in the labor of love required to do it. Seems unlikely anyone will have the time to pick up the ball since it is this late in the year.

Based on the article is sounds like this place will also function as a bar with boozy ice cream and beer.

I haven't seen where the boundary extends to yet, but I hope they included the Mattress Firm strip mall. It housed a Blockbuster at one point. It doesn't get more historical than that.

This is my take away from this thread:
The plaza is a total joke because it is losing all its high end retail-> The plaza needs a pharmacy and neighborhood amenities to get its luster back!

Re: Three Light

What I am looking forward to most from this project is the continued pedestrianization(?) of N. Truman. I never, ever could have imagined Truman becoming a pedestrian oriented street, but with the opening of two light I can already see it is inevitable (and with the capping of the loop it could be o...

Not really. Everything on schedule. Garage is pretty much done (up to floor four), currently finishing the lobby floor which has lots of details and uniqueness- so, after that they will start doing the regular floors and it will rise pretty quickly out of the ground- should be completing a floor eve...

The food hall (for this development) sounds more like an actual grocery store with an attached outdoor market area, plus restaurants. It sounds great to me.

This is what the developer, Robert Andrew of M.A.C. Corp, said he is currently contemplating 1) let the property sit and “let it grow weeds” for 20 years as the parcel appreciates in value; 2) sue the City of Kansas City, Missouri for denying his client’s property rights; or 3) let his legal represe...
