Re: hyde park: believe the hype?

At the very least its a step towards educating motorists that bikers belong on the street and that they should be sharing the road...but still a bit weak i suppose

Re: Intercity bus travel fast growing (such as Megabus)

I have used megabus quite a bit between STL and KC.  Also have friends who have used it to chicago and beyond.  Their double decker buses are MUCH more spacious and accommodating than a greyhound buses.  It takes just about the same amount of time as driving yourself (with only a stop in columbia to...

Re: 1006 Grand Avenue

do you mean public housing?  afforordable housing, public housing, and sec 8 are all different things. affordable housing is restricted by income (generally less than 35K, but depends on household size) and maybe a few other requirements.  there is quite a bit of affodable housing in the downtown ar...

Re: Section 8 Housing

In general, the public housing program is the shorter wait list (4 months to be approved...then a bit longer to actually get house) while the Sec 8 voucher wait list is several years.  At least that is the case in kck

Re: 2010 Chiefs

KC's average attendance this year was 67K.  That would be a legit (not just for tv purposes) sell out every game if they had seattle's stadium.  KC can have 10K empty seats and still have more people at the game than more than half of the leage.  KC had a middle of the pack attendance record (17th) ...

Re: Port Authority Seeks Federal Money to Build Wharf for Barges in West Bottoms

I think barge traffic would be great to watch.  Sitting on the banks of the mississippi in new orleans and watching barge traffic is a great atmoshphere (not smelly, not sure where thats coming from)...especially think it would be well suited in west bottoms.  I always see lots of people stopping on...

Re: New convenience store/deli on 3rd street - Market3

I wandered by on saturday as well and saw people there and asked if they were open.  They invited us in and fed us there food and wine (forgot it was wine walk day).  Very nice people and I also like where their vision is headed.  Talked alot about trying to use local products and geared towards the...

Re: Pieroguys getting space in City Market ready

While I was walking around the market Saturday I thought I saw a sign at the ordering window outside Carollo's that said "Pierogies made to order" or something close.  Not sure if they meant they'll help you order bulk or make one for you there.

Re: What was your job in "Exchange City"?

I was an industrial magnate=warehouse manager.  Had no idea what the hell that job would entail when I got it, but it turned out to be surprisingly lucrative...we were the only organization that didn't have to pay back a "start-up" loan to the bank and all other businesses' were forced to buy their ...

Wow, thanks for the giving us a look back at that area of troost, even if it is a bit depressing.  Hopefully some new residential will be able to bring back this area...after the financial system works itself out that is.

Re: OFFICIAL - Performing Arts Center construction

I also would say that while this building will not quite be as big as say...the Sidney Opera House, it will indeed be much MUCH more complex and take a ton more finishing work. In person the Sidney Opera house didn't really semm to be that large of a building to me (or at least not as big as i thou...
