Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Sounds like alot of people should go to the open house at the Library tonight.  Or we should just get one of the developers to come on here and answer all our questions

Re: Make Grand Grand

I would really love to see this happen, but hate getting my hopes up.  One encouraging thing that makes it more likely is the fact that UMB and the Kempers seem to be on board...but really how could someone not be?

Re: AMC coming to Empire, Midland to be restored...

Anybody else notice this I have...it seems like there is much more street activity in the downtown PnL area compared to even just a year ago.  Whenever I do see people out walking throughout the district I'm always wondering in my head "wonder what convention/event is going on tonight".  I'm often ...

UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

So I overheard a conversation of some people talking about UMKC contemplating opening a 3rd campus, possibly downtown, that would be for the arts.  I didn't catch any details or how close this is to reality or if will even happen, but they seemed to think it would be similar to the Kansas City Art I...

Innovation Cafe

Talked with some guys who just opened a new work place/cafe called Innovation Cafe or iCafe.  http://www.icafekc.com/   Its located at 2029 Wyandotte, Freighthouse building I think?  They said there used to be a small architecture firm in their space previously.  Sounds like it could be a pretty coo...

http://blogs.pitch.com/fatcity/2011/06/the_food_network_is_filming_at.php food network filming here today from 1-5pm.  If you're in the area it sounds like they'll be offering some good deals to fill the place while filming. Extra Virgin is offering another incentive to diners with half-price duck-...

Re: Crosstown Station - 1522 McGee

Wow, that is surprising to me.  It's a shame if we're going to lose that venue all together and its replaced by something non-business/entertainment related. I really like their set-up. I assume this also means the upstairs PressRoom is closing as well?

My buddy who is a cop told me that the foot patrolers will be made up of all rookies coming out of the academy and will be placed in only the "toughest" hoods.

Anecodotal story.  Yesterday I was speaking with a building manager (in KCK on countyline rd) and the census count came up and the effect it had on her complex.  She stated the Census Bureau showed up unannounced, banging on doors and flashing badges.  She said there vacancy rate went from nearly 0 ...

Lots of great ideas on here that are very doable.  Is there any feasability to allowing a developer to put up condos/apartments and direct some of the taxes/revenues from this towards park im...
