Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

traffic has become quite dense during rushour and weekends, thanks to P&L.  Downtown isn't even close to having "traffic" congestion problems.  There are times when there's a fair amount of cars in the street, but you've got be kidding if you think there is a traffic problem.  Especially "rush hour...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

I was the guy at the end who sent an email....here is what they responded with 1.      How exactly is signal priority defined? (i also included a blurb in this question saying the MAX buses signal priority doesn't seem to do much...if they even utilize it) Response: Here is a helpful excerpt from th...

Re: Westport Food Truck Festival this weekend

Also I believe this westport food truck fest is meant to kick off a weekly (maybe monthly?) artisan fare/marketplace in westport to be held at beaumont.  Supposed to be more of an event that Food Trucks are at as opposed to a Food Truck Event...though thats not how its being marketed.  I agree...sho...

Re: Westport Food Truck Festival this weekend

Are there set times where a critical mass of food trucks get together during the month in KC, that is what the "Truck Stop" in the crossroads is supposed to be about on FF.  And from what i hear they are trying to to do it every weekend though i don't think that's happening yet. last FF i went to t...

Re: Sprint Center a sign of KC's hard times.

This guy is a quintessential suburbanite who went away for college...went back to his home in the suburbs...decided he didn't like this "city"...and moved away bashing it as he goes.  The reality is he is completely uniformed about anything going on here and didn't have clue how to find out (complet...

Re: Clay Chastain coming back with light rail

http://midwestdemocracyproject.org/blogs/entries/chastain-submit-light-rail-petitions-thursday/ Clay Chastain is set to deliver roughly 4,000 petition signatures seeking to force a November vote on a light rail initiative. He wants a 3/8ths cent, 25-year sales tax for a light rail system that would...

Re: OFFICIAL: Penn Valley Park (Ideas+redeveloment)

Funding finally came available through tax increment financing dollars from the Federal Reserve?s new regional headquarters just south of Penn Valley Park. The TIF plan provided about $925,000 for the theater building project, plus more than $2 million for future roadway, landscaping and lake impro...

Re: Star calls for more bike lanes

I think Gilham would be a perfect way to connect DT to plaza/brookside trolley trail.  Then complete the making grand grand project and go all the way to rivermarket...seems like it would take minimal money and would be a huge boost to biking in this city. I also think Gregory and/or Meyer need to b...

Re: Why can't we have straight(er) bus routes?

Dave, thanks for the link.  Hopefully that study or whatever it is has some impact on route changes or alignments.  Lots of, duh...obvious stuff.  But, really that is how ridiculous this bus system is in parts right now that when it states stuff like "bus lines should be linear and avoid deviations ...

Re: Kansas City has a new mayor - Sly James

Did anybody watch last weeks "week in review" on KCPT?  1st, i really like that show and all the local shows they do, But I wanted to bring up what it was about.  They had 4 council members on instead of the usual pundits (Circo, marcussen, brooks, and ford i think). It was very informative to see w...

Re: Proposed $30M Residential Development near Plaza

I think this will definitely be supported by the council.  I know some people's problem with the Polsinelli building was that it would be taking away residential...well, this certainly more than replaces that... This is EXACTLY the kind of development that should be happening on the north side of th...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

So how would KC fund a multi-million dollar rail investment with no fares? Does any other city in the county offer that? Not to be a Debbie Downer, but eliminating fares isn't even worth mentioning on a wish list. By creating a Transit Tax District.  Which is the exact same (as has been mentioned o...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

I think people are jumping to too many conclusions...nothing has been decided as far as I can tell.  Its just the "well, its happening in KC so they're bound to 'ef it up" mentality.  Which may be justified, but you have to admit it is kind of amazing following this thread.  At the beginning everyon...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

My understanding is that this will be expanded in the future and is just a start...also with the possibility of creating other similar over lapping lines in other parts of the city. I also would rather have a LRT line to jump on, but in reality KC may not be able to support such a line right now.  T...
