Re: Zaarly

This site is really cool and easy to use.

Has anyone else seen the posting by the "Zaarly Team" thanking Sly for his letter (whatever that means) and asking him to meet up for dinner...all posted w/n the context of zaarly?  really cool to see our mayor is so proactive and up to date on this stuff

Re: Polsinelli Shughart HQ @ 47th/Broadway

Would love to see a new building (maybe even highrise) on one of the surface lots on Grand inside the loop.  put both AMC and Polsinelli in their and leave the rest open for other moves.  would fill that void of having limited availability of brand new Class A office space.

The other announcements were good to hear from the Collison article.  Especially the financial firm moving into the building formerly occupied by Cleveland Chiropractic near Brookside

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

These firms continue the trend of bussinesses from JOCO relocating to suburban KC areas.  I would be for this type of repoaching only if it leads to a truce (which it doesn't seem to be) or at least sending the businesses DT (which they are not).  For now, I still support it to see if it will lead a...

Re: Raglan Road eviction, new Famous Dave's tenant, KC Hopps to P&L

Sounds like Raglan road is gonna go to battle with Cordish in court.  and also Cordish has the 75th St Brewery folks sitting in the wings to swoop in if they can get rid of the Raglan people.  A perfect mess.   http://www.kansascity.com/2011/07/28/3043978/legal-battle-rages-over-raglan.html Meanwhil...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

Can you think of any Class A building with room for 400 employees downtown right now that is "ready-to-go?" From what I heard this is a big part of why fishnet went to KS.  Of course the cash helped the decision, but I think they looked in DT and there really isn't anything already built out that t...

According to the paper they're about to drop 18 million on the newly flagged Sheraton and Westin...seems like that should do the job

Re: So how is KC getting ready for the MLB all star game?

agree.  10-20k for the people in charge to get a taste of how the events runs is no big deal.  In fact, as mentioned, it seems pretty cheap considering how many people they were able to send.  Especially since it includes law enforcement who will definitely benefit from speaking w/ Phoenix about iss...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

I agree that, unfortunately, they did make a good point.  I think if they are able to finances a move DT w/o taking away funds to continue building up their main campus then they should move foward...but if it means the main campus will suffer then they probably should reconsider.

Those big building are nice, but the thing is there is no organization to get the ball rolling on a creating a large concentrated space of upstart artists (other than the guy who owns the old incubator building...and as stated, doubt anyone is going in there).  All of these people are basically on t...

Is it possible for us to simply change our name?  I would definitely vote for it.  I agree a big part of the perception of our city is our association with the word "kansas"...  what would we rename the city?  try to keep the K.C.?  Kemper City &&

heard there may be a "phase in period" of the that specific term so teams like ours don't have to arbitrarily pay every new player they pick-up 5mil.  Give them time to rework current contracts to help increase them to where they comply with the salary floor.  otherwise, yeah, we'd have to spend a b...

Re: Old U.S. Courthouse

I agree.  Last I had heard was DT's occupancy rate was and has been close to 95% for some time.  I would hope East Village could move foward with their plan and construct some of their proposed high-rises.  I don't understand why it is contingent on the GSA building getting locked-in.  makes no sens...
