Re: Six Light

Good urbanism requires variation. That's part of why housing project "commieblocks" were met with so much resistance, and why people go to such lengths to keep modern buildings from replacing historic (ie more interesting) buildings. Developments can have unifying elements without looking ...

Re: Old Federal Reserve (925 Grand)

In the renderings the emblems on the parking garage are back. Not quite the full recladding I was hoping for, but it should help soften it. Maybe the garage was old enough that it became a historic element? I mean, if the flashcube can be considered historic, anything can. https://cityscenekc.com/wp...

Looks like I was mistaken earlier in the thread. The room I posted appears to be the one from your first picture

I do agree that a tall slender building would be great in that spot. I think 4 light will be what makes or breaks the buildings visually

I just worry because it seems like the contemporary solution to monotony is making the facade overly chaotic

Re: Three Light

A lot of new apartment buildings are just really ugly imo, and not just in kc. Not sure why everything has to look like a jenga set or grey shipping containers. On that front I actually commend the light towers for looking stable and being blue.

Yes, the adjoining dining room—a 1960s addition by the way—is getting a contemporary upgrade, although the original columns, ceiling and floor will remain.

Sounds like they got an earful!
