Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

Yeah I don't understand how BAP wouldn't work. If anything it would be less isolated there than the other spot

Do you know of any plans to expand KEF? It would be interesting to compare their plans with ours

Re: Muehlebach Hotel / KC Club Project

I'm glad it's not just a garage with an office building plopped on top. Seems really well thought out

Re: OFFICIAL - ARTerra (21st and Wyandotte)

I took this before an event at the kauffman center on Sunday. I think arterra could end up fitting into the area nicely. The roof height seems to line up with union station, the sweeney school building, and the IRS post office building at this angle. It's even low enough that the frieze of library m...

I think the arcade gets used regularly as an event space, so it makes sense it would be cleaned up. It's still woefully underutilized for being such a unique building.

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

still need TLG to start a book club though that's 100% on him to start. @thelastgentleman I'll get on it! With regards to pokemon go, I remember union station became a major hub for that game and they swiftly capitalized off it. That is, of course, the soul reason they can afford all the exterior w...

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

This is a great building, especially inside. Sad to see it's not maintained given the momentum in general downtown. One of my personal favorites. Beautiful ornamentation. Hopefully someone with a vision will come in and do something great to it. I have a feeling that one of the problems it faces is...

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

I remember there was a biz journal article where the current owner described the purchase as "like robbing a bank!" but suggested the place was in immaculate shape, which gives the impression that there are problems they aren't even aware of.

I worry about that place

Scarritt is not apartments. I think there are only a few tenants in there. Also, some of the ironwork along the base has deteriorated

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

I'm hoping this prompts some action with the block just north. That parking garage is awful and the scarritt building's cornice is being held up with stilts. I think the arcade is pretty much empty too

Re: Muehlebach Hotel / KC Club Project

Isn't the Marriott still using the Muehlebach convention center facilities just south of the old hotel? What will happen to that or will connectivity be maintained through the apartment conversion? If they keep the connection, the muehlebach lobby could become a sort of ceremonial lobby for the wes...

Re: 3rd & Grand to be redeveloped as TOD

Isn't the current vogue to be disproportionately outraged at every real or imagined slight? Or do I spend too much time online, where basically everyone is their worst possible self most of the time? No, the current vogue is to be disproportionately outraged at people who appear disproportionately ...
