Re: Bike Lanes

There is a misguided movement in this town to stick bike lanes everywhere. Unless they are protected, they are meaningless and anyone with sense would take a side street, when possible. Paseo, in most places, is a very dangerous road for bikes. And there are usually quiet adjacent side streets avail...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

If we go with the center lane option, I would really like them to consider the design of the rails to be different than downtown that has the solid concrete slab between the rails. Design it so you layer of asphalt between the rails above the concrete substructure that can be easily pulled out so t...

Re: Historic Old Northeast

There's actually an easy way to compare urban to suburban. Zoom out in google maps satellite view. if a neighborhood is mostly green then the buildings aren't tall enough to go over trees and they can easily overlap a house's roof. It may be denser but it's all homes and that's a suburb flyingsuburb!

Developments of this size involve tremendous risk, a shit ton of money and a lot of work – which includes employing a lot of people. They have done a lot of large and important developm...

When Dave cuts off your legs, you will no longer be able to walk as fast as the streetcar.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

I concur. Ate there last night and tried 3 bowls ("Good" size bowl, which is the smaller of the 2 options and plenty of food), they were all very different and all excellent. They didn't have beer but had just received their license and expect they will be selling booze real soon.

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

The stairs do not have a bike tire channel. Yes the trail is there to the bridge, but it is a long way and against human nature not to take a direct path, which would be straight up the Grand viaduct. As I understand it, there are people working on adding a bike/ped cantilever to this route and whoe...

I try not to rant, at least not publicly. But Jeez, Abnos fucks up every single building he touches. I can't understand why anyone would rent from him and I'm incredulous as to how he can make a profit. I had a nice negroni at Lifted Spirits on Sunday and sat at the window looking at the atrocity he...

The loop will be capped when the sun sets in the south/southeast, during pleasant weather – even though it may coincide with hell freezing over.

earthling, your pro urban fellow penpals are not discouraging it, they are just being realistic. CVS isn't going to abandon what they likely are at least part owner of, a few blocks away and with their own generous parking lot, to put tons of money into a new space that is the highest rent around. A...
