Re: Hotel Bravo- 17th and Wyandotte

I wonder if they are in Kahoots with the other property owner then. It makes no sense to build the stairs otherwise. Since the hotel envisions leaving half the parcel as a green field, do you think there is some sort of phase 2? Any ideas for why the empty field would be left and what it would/could...

Re: Strongtown: Suggestions for KC's downtown streets

We're seeing increased evidence of people of means moving into urban areas and pricing out existing residents who are then forced to seek housing in the burbs...basically. In many ways, I think this is a positive progression. Traditionally in our city, the core has held the unbalanced burden of car...

Re: Strongtown: Suggestions for KC's downtown streets

Great presentation tonight. Mayor Alvey, some former council people, Dave, and Matt where in attendance. Matt asked about Kansas City’s large amounts of lowdensity suburbs/farm fields. Response:Kansas cities and other cities don’t talk about deannexation but it’s an important conversation that will ...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

It sounds like the Icelandic government has been meeting to discuss the effects of and potential government intervention in a bankruptcy/collapse of WOW airlines. Link? https://www.mbl.is/frettir/innlent/2018/09/10/fundudu_um_stodu_wow_air/ The article is in Icelandic. I also looked through the com...

The KC port authority hosted an event for that shipping company. Sounds like they are he ones who plan on using this port

Re: PortKC launches new inland port development

The new inland port “Missouri River Terminal” is supposed to be an intermodal container port. Not commodities like the current one. UrbanSTL has a lot of information about a group called Americans Patriot Holdings that is about to build a line of river container ships. These new ships will service M...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

It sounds like the Icelandic government has been meeting to discuss the effects of and potential government intervention in a bankruptcy/collapse of WOW airlines. Both Icelandair and WOW Air lost money last year. However, Icelandair actually owns most of its planes as well as owns a line of successf...

Re: 1800 Walnut

You keep building stuff like that, and you're failing to build upon the characteristics that drew people to the neighborhood in the first place. This neighborhood became complete the day that I first visited/moved in. All changes before I arrived built it’s histroic character. All changes after are...

Re: 1800 Walnut

I think the only way they could fit retail in the space would be to lower the entrance below street level

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

The 757s are over 25 years owned and fully owned. Just like UPS and Fedex, Icelandair could afford to RON them because.

Since the Max8s are brand new and thus are not paid off the airline is going to have to keep their utilization rates up(and thus not RON them).

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

Routesonline just published a list of Icelandair filed schedule changes. WOW and Icelandair both announced a laundry list of changes to 2019 schedules. https://www.routesonline.com/news/38/airlineroute/280431/icelandair-s19-network-expansions-as-of-06sep18/ Compared to the first season: 1 additional...

Re: 1800 Walnut

Looks like they optimized the garage just about as much as they can. I'm not really going to complain. It appears like they are taking steps to reduce the anti pedestrian effects of the garage. I prefer their compressed and optimized garage over a more spread out garage with an extra store front.

Re: 1800 Walnut

These design documents don't do a great job of displaying the ramping in the garage. It appears to me that adding retail in the space you suggest would require removing the ramp in the garage. The garage is so compressed that it appears there are no logical additional spaces to add retail. It appear...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

Not even that. UMKC shifting away from being a commuter school would make a huge difference. In my opinion, the expansion of on campus housing is the single greatest thing that UMKC could do in this regard. It would also have the added benefit of freeing up surrounding homes making the surrounding n...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

Agrawal said in the letter the location decision was driven by conversations with the Music, Dance and Theatre faculty, “most of whom felt strongly that proximity to the Volker campus must be an essential element to the new facility.” I'm guessing here, but I would wager that faculty want proximity...

Icelandair has had an average 82% load from KC. IIRC, that is above their system average load. Per JM, they are considering an expanded schedule next year.

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

No surprise at all. Our current terminals suck too much to have pax connect here on their way to Jamaica or the Dominican Republic.

PS. We already have a flight to Punta Cana on Vacation Express.

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

A further reduction in prices probably would mean we don’t get a second direct TATL flight and Icelandair leaves.
