Re: Westside happenings

Has anyone rented that space in the "Busy Bee Cafe" building, at E. 18th and Locust, since it's been renovated? That would be a good location for YJs.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I read somewhere that there is also a problem getting younger people to join the building trades, and thus, there aren't people replacing those who are aging out. This is causing more demand for those who currently work in trades.

Re: Downtown needs larger police presence

When I lived downtown and followed its' crime statistics (for 7 years). I recall that vehicle theft and vehicle vandalism/break-ins were the top crimes. I moved in 2009, and stopped paying attention. I don't know if it's still the same.

...The committee said they had never heard of a neighborhood asking for more density. Then, Loar has the dumbest look on her face when told, “Most of the neighborhood doesn’t have off street parking, that’s what makes it urban!”.... There are people whose brains won't process not having a car, or a...

Kansas City is also down about 5 inches of moisture for the year. Many people are losing trees and landscaping because there wasn't enough moisture over the winter, and people didn't know they still needed to water to make it up. It's also been very hot early in the summer. Young trees especially ar...

Re: Seven301 High Rise Apartments

This project never happened. The property was auctioned off last September. The owner is Amerco Real Estate in Phoenix, a subsidiary of U-Haul. It appears they operate a lot of self-storage facilities, so the former hotel might end up being a self-storage facility. http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/201...

With an increasing percentage of KCMO households occupied by one person, this type of development is much needed since it would help maintain current population densities in neighborhoods. This type of development also allows intergenerational families to live together, and with a quickly-aging popu...
