Re: St. Louis' 4101 Manchester

My initial reaction to it (based on the first two photos) is that it looks like a modern church/synagogue.

It lagged. There were projects here and there, but a core city can't survive if you only put up one big o...

Whatever they do, I hope they keep the facade of the State Bank Building and maybe use it as the entrance if they end up constructing a new building.

Re: Historic Old Northeast

Your lack of hope that neighborhoods can change with effort leads me to think that your currency in life is throwing out negativity in all things. Most people would view any new construction in that neighborhood as a net positive. Why would any developer invest money building there if they believed ...

Re: Affordable Housing

The problem is that many people getting subsidized housing are working. They just aren't earning enough to afford a place to live on their income. The problem has been getting worse because incomes weren't rising as much as rents. Over years, this catches up with a lot of people, and puts them in an...

Re: "Flashcube" Building - 720 Main

I agree with TheLastGentleman. There is an argument to be made not to use historic tax credits for this building so that you can modify it to be more attractive to residential tenants. Adding balconies, inset patios, and windows that can be opened seems to be something that merits discussion. In the...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

I think the best chance they have to keep the Arabia museum in Kansas City is to talk one of the local casinos into making it an on-site attraction; or in Missouri, is to find some private developer in Branson who would include it in some attraction.

It could also be a case of local police making arrests, but the county prosecutor deciding not to prosecute. Then we'd have to see if the state attorney general would intervene.
