Re: Statewide transportation sales tax coming in 2014

I wonder if they wanted to go the sales tax route to justify spending money on transit. I would think the average highway user would cry foul if her gas tax money started going towards a streetcar instead of the highways she drives on. I'm also a little worried that this was the big shot for transit...

Re: Bike Lanes

please show data that proves separated facilities are more dangerous. I worded that poorly, my mistake. That is just the opinion I've developed based upon using the different facilities. Im not aware if there is enough significant data available to say on way or another. Here are some links of inte...

Re: Bike Lanes

I think one issue with bicycle facilities is finding something that accomodates all road users. I ride my bicycle often, and I personally prefer to be in the road, not a separate lane. Some people are like me, while others are more timid, wanting these 10' trails or 4' "bike lanes". I thin...

Sorry for the huge bump, but wow! Thanks for the link. 152 construction (and subsequently Zona Rosa) is another good one.

Re: Johnson County Gateway

And if those 230,000 wanted to live closer or take public transit, why dont they? They have those options available. "We had to move to the Kansas side for the schools" So this person decided that the variables in the suburbs were better for their situation. If a large enough percentage o...

Re: Johnson County Gateway

Good points made, and I can't dispute all of them. It's not that I'm pro spending on one and anti on the other, I just find it interesting that the general tone of this board seems to be that all rail spending is efficient and all highway spending is worthless. I would think the cost per user on hig...

Re: Johnson County Gateway

the difference is the voters were given a chance to vote for the streetcar. If I could play devil's advocate...would it be fair to say that driving through the interchange is a "vote" for the importance of the infrastructure? 230,000 drivers do so daily. So if you're going to compare fund...
