Re: Tiffany Springs Market Center

119th and 35 isn't any better!  All I'm saying is that there's no real long range planning when it comes to transportation issues.  Developers develop with the blessing of the city without any concern for infrastructure planning and when it comes time to open up the floodgates of the new box stores ...

I'm sure they won't properly design this new change and Barry Road will forever be fubar!

Re: If someone wants to live in a vibrant big city, should he/she move to KC?

"Westport is not the best place - I find it somewhat dirty and at times unsafe." I sometimes think these statements can only come from someone who's never been to an old city and likes to hang around sterilized places like The Legends.  Westport is a decent spot with an eclectic mix of ma...

Re: If someone wants to live in a vibrant big city, should he/she move to KC?

I wasn't comparing KC to Minneapolis , only that light rail didn't make MSP more vibrant in any way and that MSP isn't a 'big' city in the way that NYC/Chicago are.  STL has had light rail for a couple decades now and isn't any more vibrant than KC. Pre-1950, KC was light years ahead of Denver.  KC...

Re: If someone wants to live in a vibrant big city, should he/she move to KC?

I think KC compares closer to Denver to some degree, but needs more momentum downtown.  KC's City Market, Martini Corner, Westport, W39th, Plaza, Brookside, Hyde Park meets or exceeds anything in Denver's urban areas, it's just that Denver's downtown is quite a bit further along.  KC's downtown how...

I vaguely remember hearing about that from a co-worker when I first moved here from Denver.  That logic is nuts, but after living here for a few years, it doesn't surprise me!

Re: MoDot adds more KC area projects to five year plan

How about overpasses on 71 Hwy to get rid of those stoplights. Why are there stoplights on MO-71 anyway?  Isn't it ironic that the best looking and organized highway (north of 75th street) is in the poorest neighborhood?  Is there any indication that the stretch between 75th street and I-435 will b...

Interesting news!  I will have to inquire about this when I'm in Denver next week.  I have an insider at DRCOG!

Re: Tiffany Springs Market Center

From north bound I-29 take the 152 Hwy exit (this is south of Barry Rd) and go 152 east to Green Hills Rd.  Exit at Green Hills road, go north over the highway and get back on 152 Hwy west, then exit at Ambassador, keep your place in line (there will be cars in front of you and behind you doing the...

Re: Tiffany Springs Market Center

I live up here by all this so I'm in it practically every day. My opinion is no, it can't really handle it. On weekends it doesn't handle it hardly at all, let alone adding a bunch more retail. I'm all for the retail, but we need the infrastructure to service it, which just isn't happening. And I d...

Geez. 6 lanes. Is there room for six lanes? I cant imagine how terrible Barry Road will be with more construction.  I believe there's room for 6 lanes west of I-29.  I analyzed the Cousins drawings for this center and I must say that this area is going to go from bad to worse in a hurry.  T...

Re: Denver Union Station

There is no comparison,  KC's blows Denver's away in every aspect. I grew up in Denver and think that the Union Station rennovation project and transportation hub is an excellent transition, but Kansas City's Union Station is by far much nicer and more architecturally appealling.  I have been in Ci...

Re: Staley Update

I am amazed at the amount of land that high schools consume these days!  You could build an entire mixed-use neighborhood in that same amount of land. Is it really necessary for every school to an entire complement of sports facilities? Why not share some of that with other schools in the district ...

Re: Tiffany Springs Market Center

Just what the northland needs, especially the area around I-29/Barry Road, is another area that looks like 119th and Metcalf!  I am generally for progress, which KC desparately needs, but at times refuses to acknowledge, but this project is only going to make this area a complete FUBAR mess!  Barry ...

True, but it's not set in stone yet, that KC will indeed have light rail in the near future.
