Re: OFFICIAL - Performing Arts Center construction

Here are transit-related some photos from the opening and this week. The view from the MAX station is great. I played a little with the curves that are incorporated into the MAX station.

Re: hyde park: believe the hype?

Looking at the old school board agenda, it sounds like Academie Lafayette has been granted a one-year lease with an option to buy for $1million. I presume this is so the school can get financing and a capital campaign together. As a parent and neighbor, I'm hoping for an earlier move than the new ye...

I got the impression that AL owns the building on Oak, so I think it is unlikely that they would completely move out of there.

Excellent news! This is just north of the Aldi's on Paseo, where I often go to pick up a couple of things over lunch.

Does The Well at 75th count, and how does it rate?

I like McCoy's but it seems so obvious. And I agree that Harry's near City Market is an omission.

Re: The KCMO School District

With the push toward healthy lunches, it would be interesting to go check out a garbage can to see what is not eaten.  Try it at your child's school and report back. I haven't been to my kid's current school for lunch, but I did go to her preschool for lunch with the 4 & 5 year olds.  They dran...

Re: Covering Troost with tulips

The best stands this year seem to be at Rockhurst and 18th Street.  I think there was also nice bank of them around 82nd or 85th, where there is the underpass.  But you have to be looking for those, when one should be keeping their eyes on the road if driving. I posted three photos of the tulips at ...

Re: old hereford house lot to turn into chefs garden

Obviously, but demand for building space in the xroads isn't adequate to fill the existing vacancies, let alone start new construction. I'll take a chef's garden over a surface lot any damn day. Agreed! I'm wondering about the quality of the soil, and its toxicity, depending on what was carted away...

Re: hyde park: believe the hype?

Don't get me wrong, the house looks awesome, but, they could have at least kept something to marry the historic with the modern.  I appreciate a good modern redo but it seems like this guy just went way too far.  Personal opinion. Oh, I weep for the loss of those pocket doors and the functional por...

Lipstick mini sweet red peppers What are your gardens growing this year? Oooh, I've been looking for a source for lipstick pepper seeds.  You don't happen to know if they are available locally? I've planted several types of tomatoes and Asian eggplants. May be starting some more seeds tonight if we...

Re: City Market Dog Policy

I'm a dog lover but not a dog owner and I can't help but to feel like a second class citizen in my own neighborhood, because of the dogs. With dogs allowed to roam freely, it effectively means people can't roam freely. I don't feel like I can go over there and kick a soccer ball or play catch right...

Maybe I'm just miffed at the lack of any mention of MAX in the video, but I'm much more impressed by this video from the KC Rep.

It's very positive on Kansas City:

I think KCEB covers just KC in Jackson County. I don't think they have the results for Clay and Platte.

There quite a few evening special events, though. My daughter and I went to the luminaria walk on Thanksgiving weekend. And my husband and daughter went to the Chinese New Year celebrations that were in the evening.

@SMH, please send me an email at metro@kcata.org.  Last week, I talked with the Facilities department, and they were trying to get all the MAX (Main and Troost) stops cleared on Friday.  They were moving on to other heavily traveled routes over the weekend, such as Prospect, Independence, etc. We ar...

Re: 19th troost mural white wallec up

In the last couple months, I vaguely remember seeing saw something online about the building owners trying to raise funds to make it into a "Green" art space.

I wonder if the paint job indicates they are trying to sell or going a completely different direction.
