Re: OFFICIAL - Commerce Tower

All renovations are nightmares. I'm living through one now. Going on 2 weeks w/o a kitchen and probably have anther week to go.

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand

It would be cool to see a before and after picture(s) of the entire PnL area taken from the same location, before any construction even started.

88 title game would have probably been a picture of Danny Manning, which I think would have been awesome as well. :)

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand

Nice pictures ST. I think the KU picture is more a nod to Kansas City's historical ties to college basketball, whether Final Fours, Big 8/12 tournaments or NCAA regional tournaments. It's a big part of KC's sports history. Even though Kansas City hasn't hosted a Final Four since 1988, KC still holds...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand

Honestly putting school alligence aside here, seems like a silly mural addition. The throwback to the 88 reebok dunk ad ...on this very site...would have been much cooler and still tied into college basketball. I agree, that would be cool and should happen and that ties in perfectly with KU as well...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand

Mario Chalmers hitting a 3 in the 2008 National Championship. Arguably the single most important shot in school history. Key word being "school" not "city". Lawrence and KU are not KC. If KC had a big time sports school like Cincy or Louisville, or ST Louis does, it would make s...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand

I've heard several people grumble at work about the murals on Two Light. The north side has a picture of Wilt Chamberlin playing for KU and on the east side of the garage there is a large picture of Mario Chalmers hitting the 3 when KU won the National Championship in 2008. It makes me smile every t...

Is it just the weekends or weekdays also? I guess I have never noticed it, except during the Big 12 tournament.

Re: If you HAD to move to the Kansas side, where? (POLL)

I've lived on both sides, but if I were to move back to KS from Waldo, it would probably be PV or Fairway. I've considered a move, primarily because there is very little privacy in the city with the houses so close together and I'd like to have a bigger back yard.

Re: Three Light

For 3 Light, Cordish should just stack a bunch of shipping containers 300 feet tall. Now all that is going to happen, is Cordish is going to use cheaper materials and finishes for the next towers to ensure their projected return on investment.

so why are they doing a sales tax increase instead of the property tax levy increase on surrounding businesses. And yet only those surrounding businesses can vote? I must be missing something.

Re: Three Light

We just need to be careful as a city to not put all the affordable housing in one "section" of downtown and pat ourselves on the back..it needs to be mixed within all other housing....but I'm fine not saying high end new build has to include affordable housing every time. Agree there. We ...

Re: Three Light

I don't agree with the 2 council members and as ST stated, these are high end luxury apartments. If the council wants "rent control" or affordable housing, build lower end apartments in the east village. Sorry, but if you can't afford to live downtown, move or get a better job, that's life.

Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

BBQ and food in general is very subjective and can be debated to no end. Depends on your likes/dislikes. I think Joes's KC is probably the best tasting BBQ in KC and their french fries/baked beans are probably the best in the city. Arthur Bryants has great burnt ends, but their fries are probably th...

I thought the Bryant building was one big data center? I probably have them mixed up, but the Bryant building could use some tlc as well. Pretty sure it still has the original lead windows in it.

Agree. That tower would look fantastic in the Crossroads or even CC.
