Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

Big fan of this going from one report of one place not being busy one Friday night to downtown KC is dead and nothing will make it unless we add a pro team and 10s of thousands of employees and residents. I love you KC rag. But just wait until the Big 12 tournament, then downtown will be bigly :). ...

Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

Downtown still hasn't recovered from AT&T emptying out the Town Pavilion, SHB moving to CC and AMC leaving for Leawood. HRB moved downtown, which is probably a wash with AMC, but a lot of Companies had moved to the Plaza pre-PnL, and it's just going to take time to build up downtown's corporate comm...

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

One big new tower would be nice though, especially on the lot north of the Sprint Center. Something like the Devon Energy Tower in OKC would be beautiful and really add balance to the skyline. Three Light also needs to get built because the skyline looks off without it.

Apparently for lower than what we've heard. So don't expect any improvements to the design.
Who makes up the difference from the $1.5B approved by the airlines and the $1.64B estimate?
Guessing they just cut more amenities...we don't need a damn roof!

Re: Three Light

Yeah I thought I read somewhere that ground breaking was Spring 2019? Three Light has already been approved incentives. But I do think Cordish is dragging their feet a bit, probably after the City council made such a big fuss out of a legally binding contract.

Never get why people get so worked up about a project when it is not even near completion. And the Arts Center is perfect the way it is.

They have to do something about the food court.
LOL...yes they do. There are probably 4 open spots, with the Tex-Mex joint taking up 2 spots for some odd reason. I miss the old McDonalds that was in there.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

I've only been in the lobby of Crowne Plaza, seemed pretty nice and clean. The rooms I can't speak for. I thought they did a big renovation when they painted the exterior and garage? Maybe just lobby and exterior?

Do know who the owner is? I would think they could apply for historic tax credits to restore the facade?

Re: Oak Tower

Interesting. I honestly think if the windows were all replaced with dark bronze and the stucco and brick were repainted, it would look much better. The original terra cotta is probably not repairable, so fabricated reproduction siding would have to be used.

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article223365855.html Council holds both Strata office tower on Five Light and 3rd & Grand office building. Also, Quinton Lucas voted against them and lost my vote for mayor. Not sure it matters. I don't get why they are trying to fast track it th...

Re: Are downtown apartment occupancy rapidly trending down?

I would agree, from the RM to the Crossroads, KC has done very well with adding new construction, re-habbing old buildings and other infill projects. The one area truly lacking is new business and commercial office buildings. I would imagine downtown office capacity is pretty high, so not sure why n...

Re: Are downtown apartment occupancy rapidly trending down?

I agree with Grid. I work downtown and have for 12 years and it still feels dead most of the day (excluding lunch). There are just no people walking around. In my building, 1KCP, Swiss Re recently moved in which pretty much has maxed out the tower. Still pissed Cerner is not interested in building d...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

None of the buildings are really very attractive in their current state. I think all the windows have been cinder blocked. I'd be fine with tearing them down as long as something went in it's place (besides a surface lot).

Re: Trees in KC (ongoing)

So I noticed the other day they chopped down the trees in front of City Center facing Main leaving about a 1' stump sticking out of the iron planter cover. Is the plan to re-do the sidewalks or something or did the City just decide to kill some innocent trees?

Re: Downtown office vacancy

Yep saw that article from Kevin Collison. Really need some new Class A space downtown for just this type of opportunity. Most firms adding or re-locating jobs don't want to wait 24 months or so for a new tower to be built. Even a 10-15 story office tower would be a good start, anywhere between the ...

Re: Downtown office vacancy

I'm surprised Cordish hasn't built some office downtown. Aren't they building an 8-10 story office building in downtown St. Louis along with One Cardinal Way apartments? Surely St. Louis' office vacancy rate is much higher with AT&T emptying out their office tower downtown.
