Re: Capping the Loop

Isn't Harlem currently a pay by the week place for sex offenders? I don't see that happening. I don't see this happening either, bit I applaud the effort and civic planning. It's technically an area rather than one building. http://kcur.org/post/take-trip-harlem-kansas-city-neighborhood-youve-proba...

Re: Capping the Loop

The loop will be capped when the sun sets in the south/southeast, during pleasant weather – even though it may coincide with hell freezing over. No kidding. It's pretty much a pipe dream to just to get the freeway capped/removed let alone build this fantasy stuff on top of it when half of the downt...

Re: OFFICIAL - Commerce Tower

Walgreens and CVS tend to plop down near each other if not opposite corners elsewhere. Is surprising that downtown hasn't attracted Walgreens yet. One of the general rules of marketing is to always locate close to competitors. Walgreens and CVS is a golden example as much as Lowes and Home Depot or...

I've been snapping screenshots of the camera about every day (when I remember) and made them into an animated gif showing progress thus far. Thought I'd share.

Re: 13th and Grand tower

There really is not a better location in the city for large tower than that spot. It's sad it's a freaking parking lot that might be a small office building in ten years. I honestly don't see Copaken ever doing anything productive with it. Somebody else needs to come in and buy the land and develop...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I don't get it either. The pharmacy demand isn't for tourists...it's for residents....but as a tourist in other cities, a convenient pharmacy is a great amenity....look how many have popped up on the LV strip There's either a CVS or a Walgreens every block on the Vegas strip these days and that has...

Re: The Future of Crown Center

I don't see hotels going away. I travel a lot and use hotels, airbnb, vrbo etc. It really depends on the city and what I'm trying to do while traveling. One of the biggest problems with airbnbs is logistics. Most business travelers don't book out months in advance and need flexibility when plans ch...

Re: The Future of Crown Center

The cities that have all of these huge hotels all have most of their large corporations downtown. They fill those rooms with conventions, employees from outside offices coming to town, etc. KC is more spread out with most large corporations outside of the downtown area spread all over town, thus we ...

Why don't you guys stop trying to dig up identities?

Looks like ST deleted his profile and it was nice to have him on here. So congrats on running a nice resource off.

I was kind of wondering this as well but I figured my asking would lead to re-doxing

Yea you did miss it. DaveKCMO turns out to be Dave Johnson. It was a big surprise for most of us here.

No, no, no YOU have it all wrong. He's Dave Smith, the lamp maker.

Re: North Kansas City

Downtown NKC already has residential inside it. Their downtown area is Burlington, 21st, Howell and where 17th would be I count dozens of residences a block or less from Armour, one is a multi-story apartment building If you've been through NKC as much as I have, the best place to put a mixed use b...

Re: North Kansas City

I think this may be the time to introduce some residential into downtown NKC. Especially in that area with CVS across the street, a few breweries a block away, the nearby restaurants, etc. I think an apartment building similar to 1914 Main would do quite well there with ground level retail of course.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

LOL. Yea, a bit disappointed that Old Navy is going in that spot. How about a UNIQLO?! or Zara?! KC probably isn't even near Uniqlo's plans, but I'd be more than happy to see one here. If they want to attract stores in that price point, I think we would all much rather see a UNIQLO or something uni...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I would give Eddie Bauer 5 more years before all the stores close up, Williams Sonoma maybe a little longer and not sure on Burberry, they might be strong enough in Europe to survive. I think the reason why we might see lower end stores on the Plaza in the future is because our youth are not really...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Old Navy is definitely the pinnacle of luxury.

Glad they are kicking out peasant stores like Burberry, Williams Sonoma, Eddie Bauer and bringing in Old Navy. Maybe Dollar Tree or Five Below can take over The North Face space.

Re: OFFICIAL - ARTerra (21st and Wyandotte)

How many floors are left to go? I noticed on Friday that the current height is now lined up exactly with the base of Kauffman Center when viewed from the base of Liberty Memorial. I know there's some sort of height restriction rule for anything built between the Memorial and Kauffman but I can't re...

I interviewed with a relatively mid/higher up at Goldman Sachs who was surprised we even had a "big" airport. I agree that getting our name, stats, and image out there would go a long way to bringing in new residents and businesses. We can place ads in Wall Street Journal, host World Seri...
