Re: Next Mayor 2019

Miller refused to say if he supports the pre-K plan tonight. It's, like, on the ballot in April and you can't commit to more than just "studying the proposal"? All of the other candidates quickly confirmed a yes/no position. I can cut him some slack -- sort of -- for hedging on the pro choice questi...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

https://cityscenekc.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Walnut-Street-rendering.jpeg Loving the trees and landscaping, but I still think it would be natural to build up to Walnut. Tower does have a point, that it's still going to be a long walk from building to building if it's not tightened up. This is...

I was in LA this week and noticed that their center running light rail allows for left turns.
It's possible, but alas KC couldn't wrap their heads around it. I tried.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Hopefully part of this is improving the streetcar interaction with the walnut intersection. Always annoys me it stops for the station then inches 4 feet forward to stop at the 3 way stop. Some electronic signature that stopped all other traffic when the streetcar is at the stop until it gets throug...

Re: Next Mayor 2019

I'm voting for Miller. Justice seems unwilling to learn from the mistakes of this admin, Lucas isn't qualified, everyone else is pretty much a mediocre council person. Other than the obvious suspicion that you might be a Russian bot, what about Miller's record entices you so much? MoDOT road/bridge...

Re: Next Mayor 2019

Regarding the proposed cap on incentives, are there any other comparably-situated metros that have a 50% cap in place? Also, are there actually any data that support a move from 75% to 50%, or otherwise hint that the current cap is not sufficient? The proposal to cap incentives at 50% is not based ...

I don't consider any of those truly divisive.
On the surface no. However, I am willing to bet you 3 Guy Fieri tacos that one of those issues will get blown out of proportion.
Sure, and then they end up passing anyway.

Re: OFFICIAL - Opus Development (formerly Faultless Linen)

Supposedly the land sale will finally occur this summer. Can't believe it's taken Opus this long to get this going. There is some indication that Opus might be teaming up with another developer, but will keep the design we've already seen. I’ve heard the original design is dead and construction is ...

The ground floor facing Main actually looks pretty good. Nice materials, lots of transparency for the lobby and coffee shop. Eager for the March opening as this corner needs a jolt of activity.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Walnut is being reconfigured this year to pass directly through the Market, just like it used to do before the 50s. Dave, can you fill us in on any more details? What are the reasons they're doing this? The goal is to put some on-street parking closer to the eastern retail stalls, which have strugg...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Writing has been on the wall for awhile. Maybe we can redo that whole building and reopen walnut? Yes. A few things: 1. Walnut is being reconfigured this year to pass directly through the Market, just like it used to do before the 50s. 2. A replacement tenant has approached the city. 3. The Arabia'...
