Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

There's a bunch of Lime scooters in NKC now. At Swift and Armour, one corner has a permanent bike rack right at the street, the other has scooters in space between the two curb cuts. It's a good example of how corner bumpouts can be great usable space. They are still working on being official, but ...

Since the current model doesn't work any where else in the city, I'd be curious to hear about any funding mechanism that isn't a regional plan.
There isn’t one.

It looks like they’re getting ready to residewalk and pave 19th as well after the main structure at Corrigan is done. Will there be bike lanes there too?
Nope.

The Lazia grand opening is a tad delayed. They called needing to cancel our Friday night reservations. So we will be trying out XR instead.
XR's menu is very limited. Pizza and antipasto.

I also love the tan brick. It has a nice feel at ground level, too.

A third operator is in the works. Most likely scenario is the city implements its pilot program (which will replace the interim guidance) with multiple operators. Hopefully there will not be any device caps, or at least the number rises significantly to ensure equitable coverage.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Lyft has launched electric scooters in DC, Santa Monica, and Denver using the same app you use to request a car ride: https://www.lyft.com/scooters This is similar to Uber's approach of renting shared electric bikes (branded Jump) in their app (and Lyft will likely show the Motivate bike share syste...

The vacant lot at 18th & Cherry is under contract.
$1.7 million, "foreign investment group", probably mixed use with a heavy market-rate residential component for that price (if the deal goes through).

This looks great. Didn't even realize that coffee shop was there. Will check it out soon.

And this also reminds me to make it to Splitlog Coffee on Strawberry Hill soon too, another on my hitlist.
Very different vibes, those two. Splitlog is more in the Thou Mayest space.

Does KCATA have something like a sales team to work with downtown companies to provide company subsidized monthly bus passes? And monthly bus passes now include free 60min bikeshare rides. Bus passes are $40/month at my company; they are willing to do this to cut back on parking spaces needed. Tryi...
