Re: 1800 Walnut

I don't want to be too hard on the crossroads, but it's become one of the most NIMBY urban neighborhoods. Bullshit. Again, we've not 'fought' anything like the neighborhoods made up of middle class single-family-homeowners. The last building that caused a serious NIMBY fight was the 18-story DST/Ac...

Some neighbors: Mainmark 12 Corrigan 10 ARTerra 12 Courtyard 10 Piper/HD Lee 10 Since I was in the room for the discussion, I can tell it was 100% about scale and not building on a parking lot. We have had very little new construction in the Crossroads, but those that have been new were received wel...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

The election board won't release preliminary results (same stance they took for the formation vote last year). We'll know on Wednesday with everyone else.

That being said, with the known number of returns (3,500ish) and who the voters are we can easily estimate a win.

1800 Walnut

No images, but Copaken and an architectural firm have proposed an apartment building at 1800 Walnut. A little over 100 units, consisting of two joined "towers" about 14 stories tall (11 stories of residential atop retail + 2 story garage). Interesting architecture (reminiscent of Aqua towe...

An actual downtown master plan should be starting soon. Can’t recall if it was funded or not though, but it’s been discussed as happening.

Yes. There's an authorization on the books now, but it's for the Missouri counties and requires some other items to trigger it (MARC, I think?).

It's never been studied and that hill might be an issue, although it was there when the previous streetcar system was in place.

From the Biz Journal article: In the long term, James said he hoped to see an east-west extension in the streetcar’s future, as was proposed in 2014. Voters rejected the larger effort to extend the streetcar to the Country Club Plaza, as well as east on Independence Avenue and Linwood Boulevard. “It...

That wouldn’t be equity then. It’d be a loan based on sales and property tax revenue.

A fare wouldn't be equity either.

Re: Voter registration

I would go to the KCEB office (assuming you're in the KCMO part of Jackson County) and sit there until they figure it out. Unfortunate, but an in-person visit is probably the only way to resolve (other than reporting them to the SOS).
