Re: Ambassador Hotel (1111 Grand)

Holy shit, they hit a home run with this. That looks incredible. I'm not sure why I like this so much, but it just works with the surrounding structures. I'm not sure either. I'm reserving judgment until I see the ground floor completely finished and clear of construction debris, and the rooms lit ...

Re: Prospect MAX

That's a lot of construction for a bus stop. Something substantial needs to go on that block and soon. It's a very special bus stop! #1 bus boarding location in the entire region. The snow melt system has taken a lot longer to install than previously thought, but given our winter thus far I think w...

Re: Banksia - 9th & Baltimore

It's going to take a catalyst -- a restaurant that generates significant word of mouth -- to make dinner hours in the north loop/financial district happen. Banksia wasn't it.

If taxes are expected to pay for it, I'm out. Keep it out in the boonies and renovate.
You can expect that. It's on trend.
Put it in JoCo or the The Legends - let those suckers pony up for a change.
I doubt current or future ownership would want that, but if it happens --- so be it!

I was sure this project was older than four years, but going back through emails Matt Abbott -- the original developer -- made his first request to two-way Locust for the project in 2014. Seems like an eternity!

Re: On-going downtown development projects

Apart from government buildings, is this the only downtown building of any size put up in the '70s? What are thoughts on possible uses? Office? Residential? Server farm? Massive escape venue? Wallstreet Tower (1974) and City Center Square (1977) come to mind. Seems like a good spot for a hotel? It'...

Re: Liquor license conditions banished

Are you saying it will just be an up or down vote by neighboring owners on applications? No negotiations allowed? Who is bringing the lawsuit against conditions? A prospective bar owner? Neighbors of a prospective bar owner? Yes. Conditions were the only item to be negotiated, so that's out the win...

Re: Liquor license conditions banished

So will any details be a part of when neighbors are consenting or will it just be I'm serving booze and no other details? As far as I know it will just be the type of license -- tavern, restaurant, package -- and the serving hours/days. I suspect the end result will be that some new applicants will...

Liquor license conditions banished

For those of you that followed the Tom's Town liquor license debacle closely, you'll be interested to know that Regulated Industries has banished all conditions on licenses due to a pending lawsuit. This is not unique to Crossroads, of course, since conditions are allowed everywhere there is a conse...
