Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

if anything, the intersection should get smaller (not larger). everyone agrees that no one is well served by the existing intersection that was reconfigured in the 90s (most vehicle movements have an LOS of D or F -- if that's your thing -- and pedestrian crossings are way too long, leading to longe...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

I'm assuming that we haven't had as many issues as Cincy has had with their CAF cars? It sounds like it will be an interesting thing to keep an eye on since they're withholding payments ($4 mil) and refusing to officially take ownership of the cars. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2018/01/18/...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

^ Thanks! This was very helpful. So, most all decisions seem already made except perhaps you wanting a center lane configuration and allowing for public input on that option. Most stops are already chosen due to bus connection but could be some slight adjustments of exact stop on on intersection (N...

between sprint center loading and constant construction, westbound truman has become pretty useless. the temporary is permanent.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

some decisions are already made for engineering (embedded track), operations (use the same vehicle), or cost (no new structures) reasons. others are just already set (main street alignment, intersect with major bus routes, terminate at 51st & brookside). the choice for main street was set in 201...

Not really. We didn’t have this detail (exact lanes) in 2012 for the downtown line.

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

Do we think there would be heavy pushback from people coming downtown for events who are not regular downtown folks by closing main? People from the suburbs already think downtown is “inconvenient” and that parking is a nightmare. We all know that’s not true, they don’t. those people should be dire...

Summer Funding Election: TDD was formed. Board Members elected. Now they must approve a tax on the TDD Federal Funding Approval: The project, as I know it, requires significant federal funding to begin. Unless a PPP was used that got around this. yeah, it sucks. the architecture is nice, despite only being a few stories. when branch banking disintegrates, it will make a great retail shop that will actually generate sales tax revenue for the TDD.

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

the next downtown parking and transportation commission is jan. 23 at 11:30 (10th floor city hall). please come and testify with these fixes, if you can. i believe there would be support for closing truman to 12th (or restricting heavily) on event nights if there was enough of an outcry.

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

It's a recommendation. Depending on the situation, and sitting City Council at any given time, that height recommendation can disappear. If Cerner wanted to build several 40-story towers in the Crossroads at 20th and Grand, 20th and Oak, or Wyandotte and Southwest Boulevard, and bring thousands of ...
