Re: OFFICIAL - Corrigan Building

The 17-story Accardo project proposed for 18th & Broadway in 2007 would have definitely blocked one of the two protected views of the Kauffman Center (the view from I-35). I doubt it would have blocked the view of Liberty Memorial. There was a minor kerfuffle over Arterra, but that was quickly squas...

Plate has now reopened, but we were unable to eat there today because the power was out for all of East Brookside.

Has anyone been inside yet?
Went into the lobby a few weeks ago to poke around. About what you'd expect for this flag.

Should this thread be moved to Power and Light as it’s considered part of that project.
Done. Also updated the title to the official project name.

Re: Bike Lanes

Isn't the visibility problem directly tied to the neighborhood handwringing any reduction in street parking? Yes, and the city is all-too-willing to oblige. Same applies to Crossroads: Dozens of intersections with cars legally parked too close to the intersection (less than 30 feet), thus creating ...

Re: Hotel Bravo- 17th and Wyandotte

The KC Star published a great op-ed by the developer. Perhaps if they felt a little less entitled to incentives and revised their messaging to be less tone-deaf, it wouldn't be as controversial. I would vote it down just for the Super TIF request alone, assuming it passes AdvanceKC in any recogniza...

Too many Crossroads projects to keep track of... anyone know which one is causing 19th St to be closed until July? (Just curious.)
How do you know July? If it's east of Oak it's probably for the Milhaus project.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

So a buddy of mine that lives in OKC said they are already expanding their 4.6 mile initial line and have ordered 2 more streetcars. I don't understand why our extensions are taking forever to materialize. Also their main 4.6 mile line cost $136M or so? Seems our 2.2 mile line cost at least that mu...

https://fox4kc.com/2019/05/13/neighbors-still-waiting-for-changes-on-armour-blvd-after-weekend-wreck/ It definitely seems strange that with the visibility problem identified months ago, nothing has been done about it yet. Meanwhile, at the opposite end of the spectrum, a cyclist was apparently hit ...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

I could see running five or six at the absolute busiest times like Big 12. I can see how this can't be sustained full time but having a plan to run more at the biggest events makes sense to me. Not without significant changes in how traffic moves along the alignment. Are higher maximum frequencies ...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

"Gerend said the addition of the two new streetcars will allow the Authority to create four-car trains for peak passenger periods"? Ha. No. Four cars would operate during peak periods, which are: all day Saturday, weekday lunch (11-1), First Fridays, and other special events like Big 12. This will ...

Could we run 5 at once, or would separation become an issue?
That's pushing the boundaries of our mixed traffic operation, but it's technically possible. The whole point of adding two was to up our "spare ratio", so it's unlikely that we would ever operate five for that reason alone.

staub was the one with the great video after the kander/justus announcements round 1, right? did he have an opportunity to get back in after kander withdrew or had the deadline passed?
He had an opportunity, and declined.
