My expectations are high, based on the rhetoric in the campaign.

And that shields will be chair of pze . Ugghhh
Based on how she ran her re-election campaign, I'm going to say she'll chair T&I instead. Loar will chair the airport committee, which is horrifying.

I thought they were both on the record as retaining him?
Easy to say if you have a coalition on the council to be the bad guy or Schulte quits before his contract is up.

The big main dining room is now just another art gallery space.
Good move. They created one of the most sterile fine dining rooms I've ever experienced. I haven't been back for a sit-down meal since shortly after the opening.

I can't imaging the cap going anywhere now based on the election results. I was never a fan of the public expense as there are more important infrastructure scars to fix (like north loop or relocating I-35).

Re: Clay Chastain coming back with light rail

The increased voter turn out yesterday will make it much harder for Clay to keep doing this. The signature threshold will double to over 3,000. Unfortunately, the current Council will have to grapple with his latest initiative. I'm sure it will end up on the November 2019 ballot. Would they have th...

805 has completed its burn in. Should be running in July.
Anything special planned for its first revenue trip?
Probably not. There won't be a public commitment to the new schedule until 806 is ready for service.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

A building doesn't need to be completely ringed with retail to be urban. The new york life building has no street level retail or transparency, but it still contributes to the street through architecture and presence. While the convention hotel isn't anywhere near as beautiful, it adds to the neigh...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

As I've stated elsewhere, I'm much more concerned about what it looks like at street level. I've yet to see uplit concrete do much for that (see Corrigan garage or the award-winning DST TIF garage at 10th & Wyandotte).

Re: Next Mayor 2019

Receiving unsolicited, mass political text messages is actually illegal. If you didn't sign up to receive texts from that source, you should probably contact a lawyer and see if you can identify who sent it and how. I thought so, too, but then the media reported this from the Missouri Ethics Commis...

All KCATA buses are free to ride today, including KS side. Give it a try if you've never ridden a bus. Use Google Maps to set destination and click on the transit icon. It will show buses coming to nearest stop that will take you there. Just KCMO today: https://ridekc.org/bulletins/kcata-offers-fre...

I still don’t know how no one on this board ran against Shields! I’m disappointed in all of you.

Re: 2019 Mayor/Council Elections

So, since Shields will almost certainly win 4th-at-large (based on primary results), is there any good reason to not just write in a candidate in protest? I don't really like Westfall, based on what I've read, and even if he got all of Strassle's votes, he would still lose by a 3-1 margin. I would ...

Re: Next Mayor 2019

The Pitch doesn’t seem to write articles anymore, but this is from their Friday email: There was some late-breaking Friday afternoon drama in the race that didn’t make it into the podcast. One of the lame themes of this campaign is that Lucas has often tried to portray himself as the victim of dirty...
